I am so glad this fight has been made, like most I think it can possibly be fight of the year. In terms of the spectacle unless Mayweather and Mosely get it on i SEE NOTHING CHALLENGING IT THIS YEAR.

    To my point.

I've been reading some posts around the forum and people while celebrating the signing of this fight they are still berating Mayweather for not stepping to the plate.
Is there really a huge difference between

Cotto v Pac at 145 and Mayweather v JMM at hmmmmm 145.

Pacs impressive displays over the past two fights while being able to be questioned have still be fantastic no matter how you look at it. But by continually criticising Mayweather are people saying that JMM is that bad an opponent/boxer that these two fighhts are not much alike.

Just throwing it out there to regain some balance and rid out the hypocricy

See there's a difference, pac has fought at 147 and 140 lbs and showed he still has power at higher weight class. Marquez on the other hand hasn't fought at anything above 135 and we don't even know if he'll bring his power up with him.

Marquez got rocked by a feather fisted juan diaz. I dont see him taking a punch of a welterweight and surviving it. So really this is a mismatch.

    Cotto-Pacman
    Cotto-power
    Pacman-Speed
    Pacman-Defense
    Cotto-Size advantage
    etc

see pac-cotto is a better match up than a marquez-mayweather where mayweather has most of the advantage.Speed-Power-defense-size etc

PBF isn't a true welterweight - as evidenced by the fact that he could fight at 140 tomorrow if he really wanted too.

It's hypocrisy to forget that Cotto was once a 140lb fighter at his START weight. Floyd was? 130lb fighter at his START weight.

Floyd hasn't really shown he carries his power at 147 - as evidenced by the fact that the only person he's put away so far is Hatton.

Totally agree. Mayweather's campaigned at 147 so has PAC. After the ODLH fight PAC stated he's gonna stay at 140 as thats his weight. Mayweather when he was pound for pound stated that he was gonna stay at 147 as thats his weight. So its only natural that Cotto and Pac fight at a catchweight.
With Marquez Mayweather. Mayweather stated that it was a warm up fight.
Marquez is moving up and is unproven at the higher weights

Im not knocking the fight as I still feel Mayweather - Marquez will be a great fight. Its not a bad thing as I never felt Mayweather was a true 147 fighter. I trully believe he went up to 147 to chase Oscar (get acostum to 147 before moving up to 154)

Yes . . . bad opponent for Mayweather.

Mayweather should have opted to fight Cotto or other real 147 pounders since he retired as a 147 linear champ rather than fighting a guy from 135 pound division where he's got all the advantages.

Skills wise and experience wise JMM is at par with PBF but the 2 division climb, the physical disadvantge and JMM's age are factors that makes this fight questionable to the minds of the boxing fans.
