You guys seem to forget that most of the second half Peter was initiating the clinches. I agree Wlad did seem to clinch a little too much for my liking in the first couple of rounds. I was even screaming at the screen lol but after 5th I believe, Peter was holding on on every opportunity.
I don't care if it's Ali, Lewis, Ruiz, Hatton, Ward, WK or the fkn Pope... watching clinch/break... clinch/break... clinch/break all night long is not my idea of an exciting fight. :dead If I want to see two guys hugging all night I'll ask to borrow your video collection. :smooch
:goodI agree... just as Wlad should have been penalized in the first half, Peter should have lost points for the same **** in the second half. Two warnings,,, then start taking points. Just like all other fouls... that's all I'm asking for.
It was from Round 4 on. BTW. did Ali get the same talk for hugging or Holy for his dirty fighting? :huh I think they were much worse than Wlad ever was...
I don't buy that, and I still don't buy that Peter "initiated" clinches he just accepted them and was keen on holding on when Wlad leaned in too. You need to start thinking more because Wlad last night did it far more than Ali did. And Holyfied's dirty tactics? Yeah he leaned with his head sometimes and fought like a warrior. That aggression can lead to head-clashing but that's hardly comparable or relevant to Wlad's excessive and illegal holding.
FFS boys!!! This is not Wlad bashing thread... atsch It's just about the topic of excessive holding in general being bad for the sport... or not. And why don't refs take points for it more often. That's all.
I don't have a problem with "rules" being broken... You miss the point. If the no-holding rule was enforced, boxing would be alot better to watch... and more popular. It ruins more potentially good scraps than anything else I know of. What is it about excessive holding that you find so entertaining in a fight? :huh
Peter was initiating most of the clinches in this particular fight. However I agree clinching is infuriating... look at the 2 Briggs vs Adamek fights to see a great example of how 2 boxers should conduct themselves, minimal clinching/all action.
WK clinches every time he punches and then wrestles and leans on the opponent to tire him out. The ref doesnt do anything because hes on his payroll.Hes a steroid user and a coward.
