Another revisionist writer nit picking a long record of an ATG fighter. There is no doubt Chavez was an ATG and he exhibited ATG abilities.

If you can nitpick Chavez, you can nitpick anybody.

The author says he sparred with Chavez opponents Jerry Lewis and Jose Luis Ramirez...anybody want to bet that he also sparred with Chavez and it didn't go well for him?

Well if it was really Jerry Lewis that he used as a sparring partner, now THAT'S a story.

in my opinion and without listening to the hype, JC was a good infighter who built his career on a steady diet of journeymen & contenders on the way down

Typical Pedro. Some decent points but completely diluted with hyperbole, exaggeration, and lies. Look at his responses to the guys criticising him in the comments. Real professional. And did you notice how he once again had to insert himself into the story by talking about how he sparred with a couple of the guys Chavez fought. What a tool.

Seems like a bitterly written article. Yes, he got some unfair nods, but so has MANY other greats.

Anyone looking objectively at Chavez' career (and I sometimes have a hard time putting aside what a lil' ***** he became during his decrescendo) must admit he was an all-time great. And he is one that translates well in comparison to the glory days. He was active. He overcame adversity. He out performed early estimations.

Agree completely. I too dislike the whiny little ****, but great is great, and he hit the mark.

A good estimation of Chavez was against Comacho as Hector trained with everything he had for the bout and felt he was at his zenith for his speed skills. Chavez simply walked through him.

You can always ask if..."If" Chavez was DQ'd in that early fight, how different might it have been?
Marquez had that early DQ loss and look how it messed up his career.
