Mims seems like a very solid all around fighter. Martinez has done well against some mediocre opposition but i don't wanna take anything away from his skill. So how does this middleweight fight play out?

Mimms was outboxed by Spider Webb who was coming off of a 2 year stint in the army. Webb was a boxer puncher like Martinez who could move. I think Mimms would have a lot of problems with Martinez.

Webb`s style does not in any way resemble Martinez, not by a country mile.

Mims was no joke he could box and punch....it would be very competitive..I lean towards Martinez but Mims could take it. Mims was experienced and tough.

This is a 50-50 fight for me, both guys can beat the other on any given night. Sergio has a clear edge in speed especially of foot and is a nifty counterpuncher with good power, but Mims was just such a clever and cagey fighter who was also a pretty good counterpuncher himself but more importantly he was very adept at setting traps and fooling his opponents into coming to him and walking into a shot the don`t see coming.

Sergio can get tagged rather easily when he leaves his hands down the way he does when moving about the ring and if anyone can make him pay dearly for that its a fighter like Mims with his unusually long arms for a man his height and sense of timing. I don`t see a KO happening but if it were to happen it ain`t gonna be Mims who bites the dust, tough man that Mims was with a damn solid chin, although I wouldn`t be surprised if both men visited the canvas in this bout which would have been a good one.

I'd rather be outboxed by Webb than ko'ed by Margarito or lose a decision to Paul Williams.

In any case, Mims beat the likes of Johnny Bratton, George Benton and pushed the likes of Joey Archer and Bobby Dykes to the brink. The suggestion that he would have trouble with Martinez's style seems a a bit unfounded to me.

That's kind of the idea that i had in mind. I don't see the hands down showboating look as an effective method against a clever fighter like Mims. Sergio would have to be a lot more disciplined with his defensive posture in this matchup to have a chance.

I like Mims to win this. Sergio's speed and being southpaw could make it interesting though.
