I am confused is this about Holmes in 87 or the Holmes that fought Tyson ? Either way both men are faded Lewis would probably win due to being less faded and his right hand would be a problem for Holmes , even if not the huge problem some like to make out.
Did Lewis ever beat a boxer like Holmes? I really wonder how he would have done against a good mobile fighter with a good jab like Holmes? This is a pretty poor timeline for a fight between them though. Holmes was in a band
lewis 2003 was by far in better shape than holmes 88. it is not debatable :deal this lewis would have beat this holmes. prime vs prime holmes wins
Contrary to public opinion, I think Lewis is more vulnerable to boxers than punchers. Watch his fights with Holyfield. Lewis is more trouble to slow punchers than he is quick movers or tacticians. I think Holmes has the stylistic edge here and would pull it out.
Lewis was gasping for air throughout the Vitali fight. Weighing 256 pounds or whatever he weighed isn't his ideal weight. Compare this to the Holmes who was fighting in my opinion the best version of Tyson to ever step in the ring. He wasn't nearly as tired.
256 pounds of muscle, not fat, but even 245 pounds wasn´t his natural weight, the best weight of lewis was 220-230 pounds. but holmes weighed 225 pounds against tyson and prime holmes weighed 209. anyway this lewis was by far more muscular than this holmes.
Holmes was never muscular, his build is one of the worst of all the heavyweight champions. Not being muscular doesn't mean he's not in shape, don't know where you got that from :huh Anyway, you said Lewis was more "in shape" than Holmes which is silly considering the amount of extra bulk he carried and the fact he was exhausted after a couple rounds.
this lewis would have beat this holmes, it is simply ridiculous, it is not even debatable. and a prime holmes had much better body than the holmes 88. and yes, lewis 2003 was in much better shape than holmes88.
Old Lewis looked flabby at 256lbs & was gassing, although Peak Vitali appeared more exhausted in rounds 5 & 6. Lennox's best weight range is about 242-247lbs.
the larry holmes aged 42 handled ray mercer a lot easier than a 30 year old lewis did it all depends how much did lewis improve in his mid 30s id say holmes would have won narrowly on points .
There would be times in their careers that Holmes could have beaten Lewis but this would not have been one.Lewis by KO and probably faster than Mike did it.
