Ali was in great shape and prepared for Foreman. It was the moment he had been waiting for since he lost to Joe Frazier. He was certainly concerned about George`s power and strength. After seeing what he did to Frazier who had put Ali through the ringer he would have to be.

You are correct .. I meant Foremen. That being said at the thought of an extended stay in Zaire Holmes was out of there so I don't see how he'd know what Ali did in those final thirty days ..

It is just bull from Holmes. Just as the suggestion that Ali thought Foreman would be an easy fight

Not even Lewis or the K2 brothers could've performed such a feat.....

It's not hard to imagine Max Baer fighting Ali in a similar fashion

It's interesting to note that Ali may have thought Marciano hit harder than Foreman....just sayin....

It is undeniable that Ali trained very hard for the fight & the evidence already provided here is overwhelming.
    Game Set Match.
Also someone said Ali looked a bit slow of foot. Nah, though he was not as lighning fast as in the '60's, as explained it was a slow ring.
The Plimpton fix was in comment is interesting, especially PAIRED with what he said in "When We Were Kings. Which also provides copious evidence of Ali respecting Foreman's power & needig to dig deep to win. Without the illegal holding & pulling down behind the neck, at least with that slow small ring, I do not know if Ali could have won.

Plimpton described Ali choosing-in retrospect practicing-taking tremendous punishment leaning back against the ropes.
"Like a man leaning out of window trying to look up at a floor above him".

The movie accurately describes-like Hauser's exhaustive Biography-Ali Abandoning his first plan when he saw Foreman's ring closing ability & surprising speed AND the small, movement impeding ring size + material.

So then he went to the well re: his well honed plan to fight off the ropes.
More effective than against Frazier, who did not tire as quickly.

Holmes absolutely was just trying to annoy Foreman.
He has been bitter & resentful of him for years.

A quote from a more mature, preacher-grade George regarding Ali's Parkinson condition:
"I am sorry I ever hit the man".

I don’t think Holme’s statement was bull, at all. It makes perfect sense. Why would Ali train hard for the entire camp? When you have two camps for one fight you can’t train hard all that time. You’ll leave it all in the gym. He just needed to stay active and stay sharp. Those last two week are all a man that’s already fit needs to peak.

    Ah, good ol' early 2018.
An era when modernists were against Foreman.

Yeah, he says "Manilla" and then "Africa". Could have been the Manilla fight he was thinking about.
