I didn't know that! maybe it was the heat... decent fight though, why wasn't holmes - foreman made in 92?
Not sure bro... But I defo think the fight was already set, I remember seeing a promo for it after a fight.... I recall 2 rocking chair's? anyone? (Either that or I dreamed it up...lol) I'll cruise youtube...
Holmes had been off for some time when he fought Holyfield, and back then Holyfield keep high paced fight and for 12 . so my point is when you out as long as holmes (a heavy weight) and your force to fight at peace of a middle weight , Im pretty sure that will make you throw up.
thanks, it's a shame that fight didn't take place, they could have done it in the 70's also. shavers - foreman would have been great too: the arguably two hardest punchers.
Holmes merely regurgitated some water he had swallowed in 10 and 11. It was a hell of a fight, and one I dont think that Holy necessarily won.
LOL! I had the chance to ask Larry about throwing up in the fight with Holyfield. He said he had been holding that water down for a few rounds and with the heat and exertion of the last few rounds it was coming up and he wasn't going to stop it. Better out than in. As for the Holmes vs. Foreman fight, it was a go at one point in the late nineties, but Foreman pulled out as he felt he wasn't getting enough money up front from the promoters.
I thought Holy won it fair and square, I had it about 8-4 in my book...Holmes's best round was probably the 2nd, where he was getting Holy with some of that old rope-a-dope before Holy got savvy to it. It wasn't actually that high-tempo of a fight either, mainly because of Larry stopping Holyfield from getting into a rhythm much. I'm actually quite glad to find out now, years later, that it was only water Larry was chucking back up around his mouthpiece...that's not quite as nasty, heh!
I remember seeing Larry after the decision walk around the ring then suddenly throw up what looked like a long constant spout of water.. Larry fought well that night, i was there and it was hotter than hell..
Holmes fought well for a 42 year old. He was crafty off the ropes and caught Holyfield with some good shots. Watching it recently, it was a better fight than I remembered it being.
