I don't let hate corrode my heart. I love this country. I' ve served it with honor against enemies outside and inside since 1984.
12yrs military, 25yrs law enforcement .
But without truth their can be no peace.
For someone to say their isn't any racism in this country as Morlocks said, but who has never lived in the reality "of the others" life is frankly insulting and ignorant. Who is he to speak for the minority? Hell, he can't speak for any of the majority that had compassion and common sense.
Its not about hate, though if anyone should hate it should be minorities, especially in the south.
This entire topic started on the truth of the Holmes vs Cooney fight. I only pointed out the facts that surrounded the fight. Of a president of a country that showed a obvious bias by demanded a direct line to one fighters Lockeroom, but not the other, not the black one.
About mass media in this country that pushed Cooney into a fight that he probably wasn't ready for, to ko the "arrogant champion " and to "Put him in his place". These are not my words but comments from mass media. 35 yrs later, it sounds a lot like "Lets make America great again". And take our country back" During and after the Obama Administration.
It is the denial and the hiding of the warts and wounds of this country's sins that is the main reason it can't seem to shake its past. But like a wound if its not taken care of, it will eventually fester, and disease will spread to other areas of the body.
Morlocks chooses to hide the country's wounds, he hopes it will just go away ( You know like Trump was about Covid-19. I'm still waiting on Mexico to pay for the building of the wall by the way) I choose to expose its wounds, so it can be treated and heal.
I'm very conservative. I definitely believe in the death penalty ( 25 yrs in law enforcement, and seeing what I've seen makes me that way) I don't believe in excuse making.
But I've also lived and walked in the reality of a racist society. Seen it first hand.
To say it doesn't exist, or it hasn't existed since the 70's as the Morlocks said is a blatant lie. That's usually followed by blaming the oppressed for all of its maladies , not taking any responsibility for at the least some of the problems racism may have caused.
This type of thinking is one of the basic foundations of racism in the 1st place.

John Tate was nothing special and he scores very light in achievements.
But he's still more proven than Cooney.

Go through their records. If your standard concludes that Tate "never did anything else" outside of beating Coetzee, you have to concede that Cooney never did anything ever.

And remember, this is more about Weaver being CLEARLY a more logical rival to Holmes in 1981, '82 than Cooney.
You brought up Tate etc., you were wondering why beating Tate is better than beating the rotting remains of Ron Lyle or whatever.

No he's right. It's like Tyson's losses to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride. Sure he was shot, a former shell of himself, Close to 40, and nearly 20 years past his prime. Even bringing up those minor inconveniences is clearly just "making excuses".

The thing is, there's no other more bankable version of prime Cooney.
The "inactive for 13 months" is true but there's no other clearly better version.
If Cooney had faced Holmes in May 1981 instead of facing Norton, you'd STILL have the excuse "not enough ring experience", "not enough rounds under his belt", "just five rounds in the whole of 1980".

People like to imagine an alternative reality where Cooney has more rounds, more experience, and less rust and becomes a better fighter.
But if he'd been matched against tougher opponents he might well have been knocked out before anyone had the chance to boost him as a 'top contender'.

You told Flash he should find Jesus. There are 3 things wrong with this statement.

1) Personal insults & prejudicial statements are completely inconsistent with the actual philosophy of the historical or "real" Jesus.

2) Religion can be used to inspire the Further Reaches of human development. Some mystical branches of all faiths particularly teach humility, service, compassion, tolerance, kindness, self-criticism intellectual rigor, radical honesty, generosity-& Love.
Thomas Merton, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Saint Theresa, Sufis/Rumi, early Orthodox leaders...

But faith also is used as a cover to justify our lower impulses. The lower & especially Fundamentalist versions preach Fear & Loathing esp. of the "other". Threats of divine & human punishment if behavior & beliefs are not rigid, often betraying paternalistic, racist, sexist, homophobic tribal biases...

3) But you have no possible idea whether Flash is a believer or what the nature of his faith might be.
I promise you this: whatever form it may take, he recognizes from the way you talk that this is effectively an example of what the Buddhist call "unskilled religion".

Since earliest days some men & sects have used God to project their own bigotry, biases, impose inhumane social controls through manipulation, fear & threats.

Whether you claim religion or talk politics, I hope you will consider that copying stereotypical, dehumanizing slogans & similar anger filled tribalism will never either gain you respect, analyze the facts, help the World...

Or allow for any depth of understanding-or for personal Growth & Development.

You would like that, because you hate truth. But the reality is I'm sure I've put it on the line
