Holmes vs Eddie Mustafa Muhammad feud?

    I'm reading the new Matthew Saad Muhammad book, and Saad and Mustafa Muhammad were at Ali's Deer Lake training camp.
    Larry Holmes visited the camp during that time and apparently him and Eddie had an altercation.
    Holmes called Eddie a ******, while Eddie said Larry was ugly, gross, and the worst boxing champion ever.
    This was circa early 1980. Ali sparred with both Lightheavy champs in preparation for Holmes, and both Eddie and Matthew were ringside for the Holmes-Ali fight, and both thought Ali would win.
    As far as the altercation between Holmes and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, does anyone know more details about what happened?

    Good observation Pugguy I would Have never noticed! I was used to the hybrid of Michael Clarke Duncan and Paul Bunyan holding a hatchet. But that's just me. I do like the new avatar JT1! At least you have a avatar.

    I remember Eddie writing an article in one of the boxing magazines,circa 1981,and he mentioned that he could n't stand Larry and that he could beat him if they met in the ring.

    I wonder what the crux of the issue was - a simple personality clash or because Eddie was in camp and loyally aligned with Ali against Holmes?

    Not sure how it came about. There were some vicious verbals going to and fro between them. A fight looked likely at one point but Eddie lost to Michael Spinks soon afterwards which stopped all talk about it really.

    Eddie lost to Snipes which is what killed it off.

    If Eddie only trained and focused in the ring like he spoke he had the talent to be an all time great .. unfortunately he didn't and isn't ..

    I had an old Ring mag with an interview with Eddie where he just goes totally off on Holmes. It was hysterical. Me and my buddies were quoting some of the lines for awhile. Have a lot of old ones but don't think I have that one anymore
