Ali has taken pretty much the hardest punches from the hardest punchers of all time. Liston, Frazier, Lyle, Foreman and Shavers were never close to knocking him out and they hit him HARD and flush several times or many times.
Holmes has been hurt and knocked down more often and against much weaker punchers than Ali's. He was also knocked out COLD which never happened to Ali.

Calm down, son. Getting all worked up and swearing never helps to convince anyone that you are right in what you say. Anyway you keep trying to use the Shavers fights as proof that Ali must have a far beeter chin that Holmes because Holmes was dropped whilst Ali wasn't. You know that it doesn't work like that. No 2 fights are ever the same and each fight should be judge on its own merits. Are you 100% sure that every punch that Ali was hit with by Shavers had exactly the same impact as the punch that Shavers dropped Holmes with? No one knows except maybe Shavers. Its like saying that just because Ali was dropped by Cooper and Frazier, that must mean that anyone that Cooper and Frazier ever fought in their careers but didn't drop, must have a stronger chin than Ali. Does that sound right to you?

A subpar Frazier beat up in sparring on a developing Holmes in the mid '70s, at a time when Holmes was holding his own, in sparring, with Ali.

This is not clinching evidence, of course, but it's interesting considering the proud Holmes, by available accounts, meekly took his lumps and moved on.

Frazier was murder on boxers. At both men's best, he would probably win a clear decision.

As much as I love Holmes, FOTC Frazier would be a problem... You had to have BIG power to get Frazier off of you. Larry,(while having THE best jab ever amongst the heavies) ,wouldn,t be able to stop Joe from SMOKIN !! Frazier could and would eat Holmes punches to get close and do damage, big inside damage. Haevy, hurting boy shots would drain Holmes legs and energy as well You had to really hurt Frazier to slow him down... Frazier,15 rd UD. More convincing than FOTC with Ali too !

work-rate of Frazier too much and although Holmes is open to right hands that does not mean he is not vulnerable to a Frazier left hook. I think Frazier works the body well and then brings up the hook for a stop late

    :good

Very credible scenario. Joe comes on the stronger from around the tenth round onwards

Frazier by late round stoppage. Frazier's pressure and body attack would take half the life out of Holmes. Larry would have his moments, but Joe would eventually eat him alive.

  12. Joe Frazier would beat Larry down the same way he did Muhammad Ali. If it were close, they would give the fight to Frazier. Frazier was robbed in the second fight with Ali because of Ali's popularity. I don't see Holmes surviving 15 rounds of torture against Frazier, but as you said, he's less vulnerable to Frazier than Ali was. Holmes was always open for overhand rights, but Ali was always open to left hooks. Frazier didn't throw his right to the head that much during his prime. Because of this, Holmes would do a little better against Frazier than Ali, but Frazier's body punching and endless stamina would win out for him. Frazier wins by TKO late in the fight.

Would without a doubt be a classic. I rate both men very high on my top ten, I rank Holmes higher then Frazier but in a head to head match up I gotta favor Frazier.... Frazier was a small heavyweight but was a machine, only a few fighters in history in any division I can compare to a prime Joe Frazier. Frazier may be out gunned by certain big heavyweights that was the case with Foreman and that perhaps would be the case had he met guys like Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko, Rid**** Bowe etc.... but against fighters like Ali and Holmes who were excellent boxers but didn't have enough fire power to blast out the smaller heavyweight and didn't have quite the size to neutralize him- he was there worst nighttmare. Frazier had this unbelievable rhythem especially while on top of his game where he'd keep coming with great head movement coming forward with endless punishing explosive shots to the body and head. I think a fight between him and Holmes would have a great flow like his fights with Ali especially there first one. I think the first 10 rounds would be back and forth maybe a point seperating them either way. But around the 11th I think Holmes would start slowing down a little bit and Frazier would keep on smokin and really do number on Holmes who would at times rest against the ropes. I think Holmes would continue fighting very reminiscent of the late rounds against Norton and may even make it to the finish. But the late rounds would win it for Frazier, he'd either take the lead on the cards in the late rounds or stop Holmes late. Both are great champions no doubt it would be a classic.

Frazier stops Holmes somewhere around the 10th round, giving Holmes a brutal beating after a competetive first 4 rounds.

    Frazier would eat Larry alive.
