    So many similarities here.

On the one scale, 42 y.o. Larry Holmes and 41 y.o. Wlad.

On the other - two young Olympic champions with 18-0 records, Mercer and Joshua.

Mercer at 30 had 3-year experience as a pro, and held WBO belt. Mercer's best wins were Damiani, Morrison, Cooper and Ocasio

Joshua at 27 had 3.5-year experience as a pro, and held IBF belt. AJ best wins were Breaseale, Whyte, Martin and Molina

In your opinion, who performed better of the two aging former champions against much younger undefeated opponents, and why?

Holmes, he took his guy to school while being obviously shot in physical terms.

Plus he was inactive for few years after he got destroyed by tyson, had a few tune ups against bums and then beat a feared puncher

Well, 41 y.o. Wladimir Klitschko would beat any version of Ray Mercer.

Anthony Joshua is better than Ray Mercer ever was, 42 y.o. Larry Holmes would have been destroyed by Joshua.

Wladimir Klitschko clearly performed better because he was competitive against a better opponent, it's logical.

I know one thing,Larry Holmes does not get knocked out by no Antonhy Joshua.

And aren't you hyping Johsua a little bit too much? Mercer proved himself against the likes of Holy, LL and Morrision. Joshua did struggle with Whyte. He may turn out to be very good but let's wait a bit.

Ray Mercer lost to Jesse Ferguson, Anthony Joshua would never have lost to Jesse Ferguson, not under any circumstances.

He didn't struggle with Dillian Whyte, he was caught by a left hook in the second round but he beat him up
after that and knocked him out in the 7th round. Dillian Whyte had absolutely no chance.
If you think that Anthony Joshua struggled with Dillian Whyte, i recommend you to watch the fight for once.

Mike Tyson knocked out a 38 year old Larry Holmes within 4 rounds, Anthony Joshua would do the same
to a 42 year old Larry Holmes.

Old Wlad likely would beat Mercer, pickem at worst.

Old Holmes would have little chance of turning in a performance that good against Joshua.

No way, Mercer wasn't that good, he lost to Jesse Ferguson and had a draw with Marion Wilson, both were
journeymans, he also lost to every elite level heavyweight he has ever faced besides Tommy Morrison who
    wasn't that good either.

Ray Mercer is one of the fighters who became overrated as time passed.

There's no way that 42 y.o. Larry Holmes would have gone 12 rounds with Anthony Joshua, seriously it would
    never have happened.

His granite chin wouldn't help him against a 250 pounds guy who can punch and would be much younger than
him, his chin didn't help him against Mike Tyson, if Larry Holmes would get hit with a combination and he would
get hit because he couldn't avoid it at 42 years old, he would go down to the canvas, be realistic.

In agreement. Old man wlad did better against aj, he could have ko'd him at one point. Mercer just seemed to one dimensional.

If anything, it is not realistic to compare Joshua to prime Tyson.Look, 45 year old Holmes went 12 easy with 240 pound puncher Mc Call, and nearly pulled it off.
