In this unprecedented rematch and abiding by the Marquess Queensberry rules Both Holmes and Norton will be wearing and using jumping stilts in a 12 round bout. Who takes it? This content is protected
You done gone plumb loco! OK so I am assuming otherwise the rules are regular-that is, when inevitably they hit or shred each other with the stilts it is a penalty right? You need a way bigger ring... Allowing stilt mayhem I'll pick Holmes, since he can be more vicious & street fight savvy ala the jumping over the car Berbick drop kick. Mr. Norton is more of a gentleman. Without allowing actual, accidental or defacto stilt attacks, I have Kenny. WHy? Because he is more athletic & will have more body control.
Okay.. I see what your saying.. maybe the ring is just under sized for such a phenomenal event. What do you have in mind, like a plexiglass dome or something?
You need a massive ring, & to decide if it is a knock down if guys just lose their balance without being hit. I dunno what a dome would do but that is fine. What happens if you accidentally bounce out of the ring? It seems you will need to allow some sort of body armor for even unintentionally slicing up guys with the equipment when doing flips!
I could imagine the knockouts would be pretty dramatic especially if its in mid-air. Flips are not allowed in the Queensberry rules so none of that nonsense. Oh yea if the fighter accidently bounces out of the ring he has 3 seconds to bounce back in or there will be a warning.
Who said flips are not allowed? Unless it is explicitly banned, I think it would just be useless & an energy waster-if you cannot kick. Only 3 seconds, better make it longer unless you want too many folks disqualified-& the audience would need to be at a safe distance.
Ok I see...Maybe flips aren't banned but definitely no kicking because that means were in the realm of kick boxing.
I just think Larry Holmes would win. Why? Well, let's say that their rematch happened in early 1979. At that moment, Larry Holmes was still growing towards his peak, and Ken Norton was in decline.
True. Considering the scales were tipped in the last seconds of the 15th in favor of Holmes...do you think if it had been a 12 round bout Norton would have won?
Based on the fantasy match on offer, I take it that your ‘Shroom kit finally arrived BoB? I dunno Man, is this really such a compelling match up when we already now that both men’s performances are going to be stilted? Anyway, knowing that he might’ve laid back for too many early rounds the first time around, Norton will know to get the jump on Larry from first bell and ultimately eke out a decision over 15 rounds. If you want to do this thing really on the cheap, just have Larry and Ken duke it out in a transparent jumping castle. That’ll set it up nicely for the Rubber Match to be held in a ball pit.
based on my extensive analysis of jackass stilt boxing, aggression is key. go over backwards or sideways and your eating ****, but overbalancing forwards results in the other guy landing on the bottom from a decent height. the bouncy stilts would make a difference but i don't see it being too big. neither guy seems perfect for the rules but i think norton is the pick.
As the saying goes - A gram a day keeps the doctor away - The jumping castle idea is great! I can definitely envision its potential especially at the Amateur level. Sorry but I cant say I like the ball pit idea only because what if one of the fighters lose their mouthpiece? It would take forever to find it... Maybe we can swap that idea and instead have a gigantic hamsterball for the Rubber Match?
