Holmes vs Shavers compared to Lewis vs McCall Knockdown

    No comparison, IMO. I was watching the Holmes-Shavers fight with my father, and when Holmes went down my father jumped up screaming "the fights over!" but it wasn't. Holmes got up, was glassy eyed for about 2 seconds, but his legs were fine. Lewis, on the other hand, was really wobbly...I didn't see his eyes on the video...but when you fall into the arms of the referee you give the ref no choice but to wave off the fight. Had Lewis not fallen like that, then yes, he would have deserved another chance. But he did, so it was over, and fairly so.

    I don’t think you can really complain about the Lewis stoppage although there’s a case that being the champ he could of been given the benefit of the doubt.
    You also do wonder about the influence of Don King on proceedings!
