Let’s say Holmes ekes out a decision over Oliver McCall in 1995 and hangs onto the belt until Tyson is ready. Instead of the Bruno rematch, we get a Holmes rematch. Would Holmes do any better this time around? Could he pull off an upset against this version of Tyson?
Not sure Holmes could have pulled off a win, but I do believe he'd do better against any post prison version of Tyson.
Larry Holmes wasn't that good in the 90's. I think Tyson beats him quite easily. Larry's new style defined by fighting off the ropes would be a terrible idea against Mike.
A much more competitive And tactical fight than their previous meeting. Tyson racks up the early rounds, scoring a couple of kds along the way. Holme's rallies late and shows Tyson s stamina issues. Both badly marked up , both get respect Tyson wins a unanimous decision
Holmes liked to sit on the ropes in the 90s that would be a disaster against even a 1995 version of Tyson. Tyson by mid round KO.
It's hard to say what Tyson's form was in the McNeley fight, but after three rounds with Mathis, I think Holmes has a much better chance than he did in 1988. I think Tyson would have landed him eventually, but it would have been a close fight.
