Mercer beat sylvia at his own game. Tim tried to get him with the leg kick, and it didn't face Mercer whon proceeded to sleep him. Good MMA win for an old washed up Mercer. Just imagine what a young prime boxer could do in MMA.
Get beaten the vast majority of the time? Boxers don't train for MMA, which is why they would not be very succesful. Sylvia got KOed because he tried to beat a boxer at his own game. If you care to notice that Mercer was beaten by Kimbo ****ing Slice not that long ago, then it goes to show that even a poor MMA fighter would regularly beat a boxer if he fought to his advantages (which is what MMA is supposed to be all about...something that Tim Sylvia seemed to forget.)
Yo dude.... Uh... Tim Slyvia kicked Mercer right off the bat... I didn't realize that boxers did that... So uh.... You know what I'm sayin...
I lame tap on the leg that did nothing to change the situation from being an MMA fighter playing a boxer at his own game, Tim stood right in front of Mercer and provided little resistance. If you think Mercer could do something like that to someone like Crocop then you are truly insane. Anyone who knows anything about MMA knows that Tim should have gone for the takedown straight away and nullified any advantage that Mercer might have had...as did Kimbo Slice, who is frankly shite, but with a little common sense completely erradicated any chance of victory that Mercer had.
Yeah, because it would have been even smarter for Tim Slyvia to rush Mercer with his guard down... Cuz that wouldn't have resulted in a knock out... Ya'll MMA guys are pathetic... The mother ****er kicked Mercer right off the bat, yet SLYVIA was out of his element... Guess how many kicks Mercer did in his whole career as a boxer.... THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT... Ya'll just keep graspin for straws
I'm not 'graspin' for anything. I'm putting forward reasonable answers where as you keep falling back on the same incorrect assumptions over and over. Unlike you I actually understand both sports. I do not claim Slyvia to be one of the greaters 'MMAers' of all time. I have actually trained for many years in the exact take down scenarios you clearly know nothing about and I know that what you are saying is wrong. Anyway, there is no point discussing something with someone who clearly has an unalterable agenda.
Dude....he kicked Mercer.... I don't know how the **** you're tryin to spin it... But he ****in kicked Mercer.... That **** is NOT BOXING... It doesn't take a ****in EINSTEIN to figure that **** out...
Timmy was hit by the first punch Randy threw, ended up with Randy on his back for the entire first round, and clearly lost the stand up portion of the fight. List a play by play of Syvlia dominating anything, or even slightly getting the better of anything. Are you thinking of another fight maybe? Because Sylvia lost every aspect of that fight, end of discussion.
Mercer actually fought kickboxing matches in K1, he has been kicked before. He did a good job taking it and throwing a counter, great for Mercer, hope he does well. He's old as **** and did a great thing in a sport he isn't trained in. He also got bumrushed, kneed, taken down, and choked out by a guy who got famous fighting bums on youtube. Taking a leg kick and defending a takedown are about as similar as throwing a hook and finishing a heel hook.
Fact is Sylvia was at the time of the fight at the minimum ranked 8th in the world---- that is a fact---- most had him higher than that... Fact he kicked ray , hence not a boxing match.... Fact he got is TOP TEN MMA ranked ASS handed to him by and old way over the hill boxer. LOL LOL
FACT: A top ten ranked MMA fighter fought a boxer and tried to stand with him and got KOed by the first punch because the MMA fighter is, comparatively, a very bad boxer. So what? There's also this FACT: That same boxer got demolished by Kimbo ****ing Slice who knew almost nothing about wrestling and grappling but still beat the boxer by strangling him. So, I guess we can conclude. A "great" mma fighter will lose against a boxer if he tries to box, but even a horrible horrible MMA fighter will beat a boxer if he utilizes the most mediocre of grappling skills. Yeah, I'm kinda guessing everyone on this forum already knew that.
