One of the reasons no fighter likes going to germany, dont get me wrong everywhere in the world has homer jobs but this was a complete disgrace!!!!

Like a previous poster said, you usually need a ko to get draw in germany!

Why did Ottke get so much biased refereeing and judging in his favor? Why him?

 

Because Ottke was huge in Germany.
He was more popular than most German fighters today (A) because he was ethnically German, and (B) because he was simply better than the likes of Sturm/Sylvester etc.......although naturalised German(Armenian) Arthur Abraham may be better.

Ottke brought huge tv viewing figures, and keeping him holding a World title was paramount to that. At that time Ottke in Germany essentially was boxing, so everything would have been done to keep him where he was.

Of course I(nor anyone else as far as I'm aware) has any proof of corruption in Ottke's fights. It could be coincidence that dictated he won quite a lot of close decisions, including ones where he likely should of lost. Home advantage is often beneficial when it comes to judges scoring in boxing. It does appear there was something more sinister going on though.

Some things in boxing are just the way they are, and it's difficult to give anything more than vague reasons.
I mean if you want to win a European title fight in Italy you have to either stop the other guy or else dominate 8/9 rounds clearly. Is that because the EBU is based there ?.....who knows but it's another situation that stinks.

Absolutely. The bloke was utter crap for a 'world' champion. He had a good chin which kept him upright, and thus he always 'won' the decision.

Ottke was a very decent fighter at his best, and most of his fights were nowhere near as controversial as people tried to make out. Hell, you could plausibly score the Reid fight for Ottke, although the refereeing was the worst I've ever seen and the worst in boxing history since the 60s probably.

 

Hardly any of Ottke's fights were robberies.He was just a horrible spoiler that was often involved in close tight decisions.

This one was by far the worst as far as hometown reffing etc goes though.

 

That ref should have been castrated and never allowed to ref again after that farce.

Sadly he was allowed to ref after this fight. It is the weak commission we have to blame for not doing **** and did not even investigate this debacle.

Germany completely deserves the shocking reputation it gets.
