Signed with Eddie Hearn, apparently. What is he, like 35 now?

Should be an excellent addition to a suddenly anemic division, anyway. Hope he gets on the fast track and doesn't end up like Dychko.

The irony is it looks like the trainer he's hooked up with is Derik Santos who also just so happens to be (or at least I think he still is) Dychko's trainer as well. And Santos' philosophy is to take it slow with these former amateur stars and allow them time to adjust to the pro game before moving them up in class to the top level and many are of the opinion that Majidov has already left it too late to turn over and I share that opinion too.

Quality sparring is the only way to fast track this guy. None of these small hall shows please.

His trainer might like the cautious route but I seriously doubt Hearn will **** around. He'll move this guy quick smart.

Why'd he take that long to turn pro? He's too old now.

Just a random aside, but does anyone think Majidov looks like a Hulkified version of Kovalev?

It's weird right? I heard he hasn't had an amatuer fight for nearly two years. Turning pro at 30 is much better than 32. He is related to Abdusalamov isn't he? Maybe it was a torturous decision? Maybe he needs the money?

Yeah I very much doubt they'll go the cautious route as he simply does not have the time.

Guys HWs these days age better than in the 60s. Povetkin just beat a fringe contender in Hughie Fury at age 40. That means Povetkin can still operate at top 11-15 level I would say.

Majidov has 5 years to reach Povetkin's age. Who is to say he can't beat guys around the Boxrec 15 level in a few years? At that level the paydays aren't gigantic but probably nothing to sneeze at coming from the ams.

Good signing for Matchroom. Especially (initially) for under cards.
