Good sparring for certain but it is not like Usyk would crank up the heat if he found he could exploit Kovalev. I also find this a bit odd because JDJ claimed that Kovalev is not a CW and got "beaten up " when he sparred Isiah Thomas that guy Gassiev almost killed.

Personally I think Jackson is full of **** and was trying to keep Kovalev grounded or **** him off by leaking the Thomas sparing story. Kovalev also has a tendency to sleep walk through training and sparring like he did for the first Pascal fight and the Chilemba fight. Sparing Usyk will definitely keep him alert and motivated.

Usyk and Gvozdyk are madly in love with each other, but can you blame them, they're both awesome, how could they not be.

Usyk obviously won't give Kovalev the same looks that Ward will, but sparring someone of that quality can only be a good thing. If anything, it could be good mental preperation - I imagine you have to stay switched-on 100% of the time against Usyk, who will constantly keep you thinking. Ward will be the same in that regard.

If Kovalev learned anything from this experience from USYK, is how to cut off the ring better. The movement is the only thing I see that's comparable to Ward.

Its clearly for what usyk is there. First for his fast movement and ring generalship and his constant feinting. Its close to ward. So kovalev is trying to prepare for countering when ward is feinting the **** out of him.

And don't forget guys, ward had problems with Abrahams jab for 4 rounds. Kovalevs jab is on a whole different level. I See only one outcome. Kovalev by KO before the sixth round

Uysk is a southpaw. He's in there to prepare Kovalev if Ward switch stance, which he does from time to time. Kovalev is getting some quality sparring.

I can't wait for the fight.

Say what ? Fonfara ???? I didnt know he's succh a hard hitter or has such a good jab. Maybe Ward is preparing on how to decapitate someone. Fonfara is good for that

    Is this true?

Kovalev is a smart fighter and you can see that in the way he is stepping up his preparation. I think the Chilemba fight was also a smart move no matter what the detractors say. You don't add more wrinkles in your game unless you train hard and fight opponents who are stylistically bad match ups. Despite his amazing power Kovalev sticks to his blue collar/workman like roots and I think a lot of boxers can learn from that.

Fonfara is a reasonable choice, but why Quillin? Ward wants to smash him to build confidence??

Well, that is a top quality choice. Seems Kovalev is taking Ward movement, ring IQ and unorthodox tactics very seriously. Can't wait for the fight!

All true. But Kovalev wants to win! He's leaving no stone unturned.

Sparring Usyk gives him a southpaw look (because Ward likes to switch hit)... and Usyk is one of the very best Southpaws fighting professionally, period. Usyk sounds like he's not going to take it easy on him either -- he wants him to be ready.
