i have to admit i haven't been the guy's career since 2007 (last time he was fighting for pride)..i knew that he moved to sengoku but apart from that..not much else.. anyway i'm looking at his record and he's got 2 losses in a row... He recently got subbed by Kitaoka in less than 2 minutes ! and he also lost a split dec vs Golyaev... anyway here's the video of his latest fight [yt]4YmakIpymKY[/yt]
Your late Boxingcar Gomi is done. Apparently he`s taking a sabbatical from MMA. The dude is such a talent but his mind is not in it. Thats very clear from his performances. May be he was lightening in a bottle i dont know but the kid isnt interested in MMA at all. The last time i saw him he was at least 40lbs over weight and completely disinterested.
I heard he is like a huge rock star type in Japan is this true ? Maybe its finally catching up to him. Somethings clearly wrong just a couple of years ago this guy was one of the 5 or 6 best fighters in the world at the very least his run was a very dominant one over some very good fighters Ishida,Aurelio,Pulver,Azeredo,Kawaijiri,Sakurai ETC. I hope he gets it back on track like Vitor Belfort has he is a very exicting guy to watch at his best you can forget Bushido 8 he was involved in 2 of the best fights of the year in 1 night.
I think Gomi always relied on his cast Iron head and his power. He doesnt really have much of anything. Any JJ Black belt, if they take him down will sub him. Even at standing up he is very sloppy. He beats some chute box fighters like Azeredo because he takes everything they can dish out and they cant take his. Just check out the amount of times he gets hit in his standup. His best asset is his granite chin, w/o that, hell have a losing record IMHO
Gomi had TONS of talent. BUT he was superstar in Japan and a lazy playboy. He had no interest when it came to training and merely relied on his god given talents.
