Guys, for a guy like Kimbo who has no deep backround in anything other than street fighting... I would say that fighting even an old ass Mercer, Bo, and an old Tank Abbott isn't a bad start. I mean, it isn't as if Kimbo has been fighting for years in MMA and is fighting these guys. These are his first 3 fights.... even though the Mercer fight don't count for some reason. I actually think that he is fun to watch, and I will continue to follow him. He take this sport very serious, and he is clearly a very good athlete, is in top shape, has a great trainer, has a fighters spirit... and puts on fun fights. There is no need to talk about all of the more experienced fighters who would kick his ass right now. Let' s just have fun with it, and see how his career plays out.
This fight was always a sure win for Kimbo. Tank looked AWFUL. Looked like he was underwater. Clearly there just for the paycheck. At one point i though "shiiit.. is Tank getting paid to lose??" This fight did nothing for Kimbo. If you want to put him in there with a real MMA brawler put him in there with Buentello or Mighty Mo. That might prove SOMETHING.
I agree it is impressive that he beat even a 46 year old Mercer. Even though the second guy probably sucked Abbott has a good reputation in MMA. I'd be flipping cartwheels if I whipped Ray Mercer even if they let me carry a ball bat in the ring and he didn't get to carry one.
