    Well, we'll see I think the fans will side with the fellow African Botha. That is the only reason I give him some chance, because Frans has the homefield advantage.

    Especially since he won nearly every round and would have retired Briggs if he had any significant power.

    I'm torn on this one: if Evander wins, he might retire (having become champ for the 50th time) which can only be good. On the other hand, I've always had a soft spot for Botha and this would be a chance for him to end on a relative high.

    Ideally, they'd both do well, both retire and Uganda uses the money to springboard into becoming a prosperous nation. Sadly, I doubt any of the three will happen.

    I have no doubt that it will be tough for Botha to get a fair nod on the cards. Evander is well-known across much of Sub-Saharan Africa (he was a Coca-Cola rep back in the day) while Botha is not only white, he's an Afrikaaner, which is two steps below being Satan incarnate for some people down there.

    If I was Botha I would be worried about getting my weight down some, and into proper fighting shape. This is a guy who has been in the 250's since his comeback. Were as Holyfield has remained in shape.

    Well, all 4 of Botha's comeback fights have gone the distance, and 4 out of 5 of Holyfiields last fights have gone the distance. Watch these judges closely.

    It seems that the fight in Uganda is now totally scrapped. Holyfield will instead have a fight in the US on March 6 and on April 24! :-(


    Holyfield says promoter missed payment

    Evander Holyfield's Feb. 20 fight against Francois Botha in Kampala, Uganda, is off and plans are in the works to reschedule it, the former heavyweight champion told ESPN.com on Wednesday.

    Holyfield was scheduled to face South Africa's Botha in a 12-round bout at Nelson Mandela Stadium, where organizers predicted a crowd of 80,000. However, Holyfield said the promoter failed to make a scheduled payment, forcing him to scrap the idea of going to Africa.

    Instead, Holyfield said, plans are in the works to reschedule the fight for March 6 at a site to be determined in the United States.

    "I'm not going over," Holyfield said. "We're moving the fight to the States, but they haven't got a site yet. But I'm still supposed to fight Botha."

    Ken Sanders, Holyfield's manager, told ESPN.com that Miami was a possible location for the fight. He also said that besides trying to reschedule the Botha bout, Holyfield would also fight April 24 in Las Vegas.

    Botha is South African. I doubt the people of Uganda really care that much.

    The guy obviously needs money. It's amazing how they can spend all that money that they earned. Holyfield earned hundreds of millions of dollars during his prime and he is still broke.

    Funny you mention that it was in the Atlanta newspaper this week that he will be talking to Dr. Phil from the TV show to try and straighten out his marriage. Maybe Dr. Phil will tell him that god telling him to unify the Heavyweight titles at almost 50 years of age is delusional.

    It is sad what Holyfield has become. :-(
