Technically, yes, but I don't say that with any joy because Holyfield clearly was the better man, rocking him repeatedly, causing Barry to clinch incessantly to survive, and be cautioned and warned several times. Barry appeared to be en route to a dq loss for holding, but when the referee says "stop" or "break," and you then throw another punch clearly after that command, and you concuss your opponent, you get what you get. An unfortunate and regrettable series of events, but it is what it is.
I agree Adam. Indeed Holyfield was well on his way to olympic gold and if you watch the medal ceremony the gold winner Josipovic actually takes Evander on the gold place podium with him in a gesture that is,esentially saying you are the best.In the same time a dejected Kevin Barry leaves the podium. In fact,on his turning pro during the Night of Gold ABC aired a short pre fight interview with Evander in which he himself mentions that after reviewing it it was indeed after the break command. This content is protected I was just curious because often times when you hear about it it is regardrded as a robbery, and morally that may be, but by the rules it was a legit DQ.
