    It doesn't,mate.It's not that simple.

Just because a washed up former champion in Schmeling defeated a young Joe Louis,it doesn't necessarily follow that the German would always have the Brown Bomber's number.

No Tyson at his best would beat Holyfield at his best.

It doesnt matter what the preconception was before. Its what happened after that proved it.
Holyfield was supposedly shot but the big suprise was that it was Tyson that was the one that was shot.
Let me ask you would the late 80's version of Tyson struggle with the likes of Mathis and Frans Botha?
Its clear you dislike Tyson and thats fine, but trying to make him seem like the same pre prison Tyson is like saying the Holyfield that fought Chris Byrd and James Toney was the same old Holyfield.
It works both ways really, the people that hate Tyson are as delusional as the people that worship him.
Doesnt matter about age either and who was closer to their best, all fighters are different, Inactivity, poor conditioning, etc are all factors in a fighters ability to maintain their prime. Holyfield's decline was muddled with inconsistency, whereas fighers like Riddick Bowe and Mike Tyson fell off a cliff.

It would've if he had won their rematch, as Holy did with Tyson.

Because he fought two tough fights with Ruddock before he went to prison, one which went 12 rounds. He was also not inactive for three years.

Oh? So Lewis would always have Holyfield's number?

BTW it seems to be Schmeling would more times than not have proved a tough opponent for Joe

    IMO, yes.

Those people who scored their rematch closer than I did might disagree, however.

Great logic, if Barrera and Khan had a rematch youd think Khan had barreras number then?

Hmmm.... how can we extrapolate that Lewis would have beaten soundly a prime Holyfield, based on his winning performances against-in your words-the 'shot' version?

Let me guess: Lewis himself was shot when he fought Holyfield?

I don't see how that compares to anything here, but as a matter of fact I do think Khan would probably beat any Barrera that's fought at 135.

Gee, judging what's actually proven in the ring... What a novel idea.....

I referred to the fact that Lewis defeated Holyfield twice.I then asked you whether it meant that Lewis would always have Holyfield's number.
    You said yes.

What am I supposed to think here?

    No you didn't.

No, you just asked me if I thought Lewis would always have his number, not what I based that opinion on.
