Go to school. Read some books or something. All of the men listed went on to win significant fights. You said Floyd fought guys who went on to lose. This is reading comprehension.

Have you held all the others on that list to those same standards?

You may be surprised at what you find. Do some research, friend.

Im not denying his resume is strong, however he did lose to the 3 guys he fought who were in their prime and the two of them that he did beat afterwards were both visibly out of shape.

    I do.

But do you do realize HOW MANY big fights Holyfield had? As I said you would be hard pressed to find another fighter in recent boxing history who had so many big fights.

A lot of his losses were great fights against great oppoistion.

"each generation is supposed to get better."

    I don't understand this statement.

147 lbs 50 years ago is the same weight as 147 lbs in 2015. Fighters had more heart and guts back then, more than most these days anyway.

As far as skill goes, it's like fashion, it goes full circle.

Maybe Holyfield is referring to the heavyweight division, yes, Jack Dempsey is a cruiser compared to Klitchsko.

Depmsey was around the same size as Purrity and Brewster.

I agree he never fought a ''killer'' ever in his career.

A killer in the same set as a prime Duran or Hearns but that's throuogh no fault of his own.

When he became ''Money' he only fought people if he had some advantage or a stipulation would be put in.

The same could be said with Pac with catchweights, though.

    There was no "killer" around.

Margarito? Give me a break.

How's that unreasonable? Margarito, Williams, Cotto (who called him out in 2007) all would have been solid WW opponents but Floyd was busy fake retiring multiple times.

Solid, fine. Not exactly the same as such a "killer" as Jim was asking for in the post I quoted, a`la prime Durán or Hearns...or are you suggesting Antonio freaking Margarito of 2006-7 (or whenever Floyd is supposed to have been "scared" of him) is on their level? :blood

Obviously not, i wasn't really sure what that comment meant from you.

My point was Floyd wasn't even willing to face a uber poor man's version of Hearns in Williams, a guy like Margarito, or a wanna be superstar diva like Cotto let alone a real P.R. great like Benitez. Basically he was scared of shoplifters let alone individuals who performed murder for hire inside the ropes like the 80's WW's.

That he didn't actually face? Eh, none I'd term "killers".

Mayweather vs. Cotto (a few years earlier), Mosley (a few years earlier), Pacquiao (a few years earlier), Williams in 2008, Tszyu in 2004, Freitas or Casamayor in 2001-2002, or Spadafora in 2000 would've all been nice...but none of those are prime Durán or Hearns, sorry.

There are no glaring omissions...and the name most frequently brought up in these conversations (Margo) is a complete joke. Do people not realize how thoroughly dismantled El Tornado would have been? For some reason people have latched onto this notion that Margarito spelled problems for Mayweather stylistically when literally the exact opposite is true. I see this mirrored today with the Mayweather vs. Khan speculation.
