I think Foreman probably hit harder than Tyson. In terms of raw power.
    Not sure about Tua though.

Tyson was a fast starter with great accuracy. He had shocking power. He tended to hit opponents in the jaw, the temple, the heart, the liver, short rib, "vital areas".
But Foreman rattled guys with glancing punches that were way off normal target areas. Even slowish pushing punches had guys looking like they wanted out of there when they got clubbed.

Tua's harder to assess. He really iced some guys, put them to sleep. That's unusual. But there were plenty of guys who rolled with his shots and lasted a long time or even outboxed him.
I guess perhaps Tua was as good a puncher as Tyson, and as powerful as Foreman, but just not consistent. Because results are based on consistency.

I'm not sure why people here are so obssessed with this subject anyway. Heavyweights hit hard, all of them. It's not particularly remarkable really.

Foreman was like an rpg and Tyson more like a double barrel shotgun.

Wasn't it you who said Tyson badly hurt Holyfield with the first shot he threw???

How could that be possible if he didn't land anything???????

Guess for this question you'll pretend to have me on ignore....

I know very well a punch landed, it's Asser who said Holyfield couldn't tell if Tyson hit hard because he never landed anything. I've also read him say Tyson badly hurt Holyfield with the first shot he landed.

Can you ask him from me which is it???

That is a good question. People really get worked up around here, and for what...?

It's not like these are the really tough question facing society today.

We face the reality of Trump running for president in the US, Le Pen going to in France and Corbyn at least theoretically a candidate for PM in the UK. If you want to be angry those are some at least sensible things to be angry about. :)

A punch certainly landed but hurt he was not....

So if a punch landed then that blows your myth that Tyson didn't land anything does it not??????

    Please reply Asser.

Obviously the only person who knows weather or not that punch hurt was Holyfield. But the film clearly shows him stumbling back into the ropes and I doubt it was just him reeling off balance. When Tyson hits a guy with a big right hand that sends them back peddling - it hurts..

A punch might have landed, not saying it didn't.

To say you don't punch as hard as Foreman is no slight to anyone. Foreman had rediculous power!!!

I remember after Holmes was knocked out by Tyson during his interview in his dressing room after the fight he was asked about Tysons power vs guys like Shavers and other big hitters he faced and remember Holmes sAying "Tyson was a sharper puncher, but the other guys punched much harder" I'm guessing the other guys were Shavers obviously since he was mentioned in the original question but then I assume he meant maybe guys like Weaver who hurt him or maybe Snipes who dropped him who knows. Tyson clearly can hit damn hard, for one fighter to say he was hit harder by someone else again is just what it is.. Holyfield was never known as a puncher but managed to drop Mercer and Bowe and I remember Foreman once saying Holyfield had the best left hook to the body he'd ever tasted!

    Well put!

Sometimes Foremans punches didn't even look hard until you see how the other guys body reacted to them.
