Holyfield commented Helenius´s fight from the ringside; "I´m surprised how good Helenius is. After all he´s got only 16 fights. His left is good, hooks very good and his uppercut is fantastic. He definitely got what it takes to become a champion and the right style to win Klitschkos"
Helenius has great potential, but is not ready for Klitschkos yet. Helenius should fight Wilder next or Vlad should fight Wilder, since Wilder is worshiped in America, that fight could take place in MSG, NY, would sell out!
Wilder vs Helenius would be great - Wilder has better footwork and much more active jab and he´d be favorite to win on points if the fight should go the distance.
Funny Holyfield mentions the hooks because, whiles they are great, his power hand is actually the right (which is why he keeps breaking it). Got to love a fighter with two-fisted power. Naw, not yet. Helenius is going to need his 30 or so fights before he is ready, and by then, both Klits will be retired. He's got the potential. He is always going to be slow, but we have had slow heavyweight champs before. He needs to shore up the jab- its not a terrible as some have made on but he has to be more consistant with is. Some kind of defense would help. What if he went with the George Foreman/Archie Moore cross arms?
Wilder will not go from fighting department store mannequins to fighting Helenius, who has already made himself a legitimate top ten contender. Nor would it be a good fight. Wilder has basically waisted the last couple of years by continuing to fight the kind of fighters than most guys face just to get used to the bright lights. If Helenius can use 15 more fights, Wilder can use 30.
Holyfield wants a shot at the WBA so he talks what Sauerland wants. Very sad. Holyfield needs money. No way Helenius beat the Klitschkos. Wladimir will KO him, Helenius has no defence.
I think Wilder would make huge money by fighting Vlad or Vitali next at MSG. Vitali Klitschko Vs. Kirk Johnson sold out at MSG during a huge snow storm!!!!!!! Sure Wilder would get knocked out, but look at the money he would make................Lyahkovich should have fought Vlad instead of Helenius, he would have made huge payday, instead he got knocked out for a much lower payday.................
Yup, he hurt his right hand in this fight also. Helenius said that the right hand was hurt in the early rounds and he had to ease up with right one. Left uppercut was a new tool practiced for this fight and it worked. I´d like to see development in footwork and his jab-rate should be higher
:good Lyakhovich should have fought Wlad in 2005 for the IBF Eliminator (as it was planed by Wlad, but Lyakhovich pulls out on short notice) but at this time he said, he could not went to germany because of visa issues. I am wondering that Sauerland had the power to give him his visa (second time Lyakhovich went to germany).
Damn, that is too bad. Someone mentioned on the other thread that he needs to back off and fights lesser opponents for ahwile, and I agreed. This is another reason. He should fight his next few fights with guys that he can just beat with the left jab/hook/uppercut. Let that right hand get fixed once and for all.
Huge punchers ofter get hand injuries, such as Boytsov. He should go to South Africa and get the same operation that Gerrie Coetzie had, remember the famous bionic fist? It held up though.............
for all the posters saying helenius ain't ready for a klit and he should take 10 more fights etc., who exactly "is ready for a klit". are we as fans supposed to watch k2 shut out past prime re treads or other "not ready" lesser talents? we ain't his mangers. a fight w/ wlad could especially be exciting if helenius does his mid to late fight wake up barrage and finds that chin. just put him in already, it won't be the end of the world for him most likely at his young age. if anything a loss to them now would be less detrimental to his career than a couple of years later as he won't have a 'green' excuse
