Evander hasn't had a fight outside of the U.S. since '87. He's never had a heavyweight fight or a title fight outside the U.S. either. Did he avoid fighting overseas during his career, and if so what was the reason for it (or was it just money)?

He shouldn't have a problem with the language barrier because he doesn't speak English anymore either.

He will be alright, all he has to do is go to Siberia and train in isolation to this:

    Two worlds collide, rival nations
It's a primitive clash, venting years of frustration
Bravely we hope against all hope, there is so much at stake
Seems our freedom's up against the ropes
    Does the crowd understand?
Is it a East vs. West, or man against man
    Can any nation stand alone?

In the burning heart, just about to burst
There's a quest for answers, an unquenchable thirst
In the darkest night, rising like a spire
In the burning heart, the unmistakable fire, in the burning heart

It worked for the last American Heavyweight champ who went there;)

    He'll be fine.

He was supposed to fight Ruiz in China, although, I believe that bout was postponed (their first?).

It was reported that Holyfield, Ruiz, and King utterly amazed an on-looking crowd of Chinese natives as they ate massive quantities of Chinese cuisine, the likes of which the Chinamen had never before seen!

That fight should have been stopped after the second round. Sure Balboa scored the KO in the 15th, but the pummeling he took gave him brain damage! The ref really dropped the ball on that one.

side note* are roids really rampant in the former ussr like in the movie? if so, Field's odds of winning are rising tremendously.

No no..thats the song he needs when he gets off the plane.

When he trains he requires this:

Silent darkness creeps into your soul
and removes the light of self-control
the cave that holds you captive has no doors
    burnin' with determination
    to even up the score

    hearts on fire
    strong desire
    rages deep within
    hearts on fire
    fever's rising high
the moment of truth draws near

    :good :good

I don't trust the Russians, he should be concerned. He might have to KO Iggy or dominate to get the win. If it's close and he deserves the nod, he wont get it the Russians are just as greedy as anyone, but are more willing to be dirty to get the results they want. Iggy won't cheat or his corner, but Russians with money at steak won't hesitate. Is it in their best interest to let an American come over there and take the title away from a Russian, most Russians don't care, but the ones with money invested in Iggy do!

Just look at the political situation over there, if you talk bad about Putin you either go to jail or are dead, lately it's been the later of the two.

Just my thoughts, nothing more, nothing less.

Holyfield is an old pro; I doubt fighting in Russia will have any effect on him. What will have an effect on him, though, are his dimished skills, age, ring wars, and brain damage.
