Holyfield is going to fight Derrick Rossy...

Ross is one of Team Adamek's sparring partners.

 

Actually a decent fight. Rossy isn't a worldbeater but he has some solid skills. Slow as hell but he throws nice punches. Kinda has a "Larry Holmes" style and IMO could very well "upset" Holyfield, if you could call it that.

Can anyone fight to any age? Seems like it will be a detriment to Evander's health to keep fighting.

Holyfield has been great over the years although the man is a seriously deluded bible basher.

I know this sounds horrible but I hope somebody gives him a serious beating so he finally realises he's got to chuck it in.

That was TEN years ago. If you had told me than that Holyfield would still be fighting, I'd have called you a liar.

 

He has 11 kids and a huge mansion to pay for.

 

I thought he got that from Toney and Donald.

 

the fight with rossy had already been made and was going to be in south korea sometime in november last year. it was cxld when the botha fight was made so looks like it's back on but now in vegas!

altho' i read today that the botha fight could still be made for miami sometime in march.

my take on all this is that holyfield doesn't actually want to fight if there isn't a proper belt on the line because he might lose and blow any chance of a final title shot, but all these cxld fights serve to keep his name in the news...

 

I'm a bit surprised Holyfield is fighting Rossy, seems like a high risk small reward for the old man unless its some sort of eliminator. I would think Holyfield could find a bigger payday fight somewhere, he would be a perfect opponent for Hopkins if he ever wanted to test the heavyweight waters. Hard to say who wins this fight if it happens because you simply don't know what Holyfield will show up with. He is clearly a fraction of what he once was but he still had enough to beat Valuev according to most. Rossy already beat Mercer if he beats Holyfield and with Bowe still out there he could try to clear out all of the 90's heavyweights who are 15 years past their primes.

 

So he's getting all dressed up to pick up a small paycheck.....
