Yes its old, but I was quite surprised about what he said concerning the Brown Bomber: "Jesse Owens couldn't even make the Olympic team today. It's the same with boxing. I always just look at Joe Louis, I say, You know what, he kind of slow. I'd tear him up. People say, Joe Louis had twenty-five consecutive wins as a champion. That's because they didn't have videotape. You couldn't pick up his style unless you was in there with him." http://www.esquire.com/features/what-ive-learned/evander-holyfield-quotes-0109?src=digg
...Good point. No one will ever evolve past Valuev though. This content is protected It is done. Perfection has been met and you cannot better something which is perfect.
Holyfield's point about videotape doesn't stand up. Louis would benefit just as much as the opponents, and actually in reality Louis HAD been seen on film by many of his opponents, and most of them were a complete mystery to him, rather than the opposite. Holyfield has it backwards.

See...when Bert Cooper hits you in the head...You're never able to think critically again. You just say ****...I'd tear up Joe Louis, time isn't catching up with me at all, I had to beat the devil out of my wife's spirit. Whatever. All it takes is ONE punch from Smokin' Berty C.
Ali wasn't much impressed by Louis' footwork either. Do anyone know any other modern champion that has weighed in on Louis?
There are two versions of Holyfield Before Cooper After Cooper And you know what, Cooper and Bowe weren't even prime when Evander faced them: From Doghouse Boxing SN: You were expected by many to win your fight against Evander Holyfield. What happened in that fight? Did you just get caught? Sir Bert Cooper: Yes, I just got caught, but realistically the fact of the matter is that Bowe and I finished each other. Holyfield fought a shell of us both; he would have never wanted to fight us when we were still fresh. It?s true, he got a shell of us, and we weren?t the same after we fought each other. We fought a brutal war. His eardrum was busted and my jaw was broken, and we were just never the same.
"Ali wasn't much impressed by Louis' footwork either. Do anyone know any other modern champion that has weighed in on Louis?" Well Tyson thought he was the best HW of all time.
As much as I admire Holy's ATGness, especially when in his own prime against SNV, it's all true. A faded Bert Cooper severely damaged Holy's mind. That's probably why he was crazy enough to stick his ear in Tyson's mouth and then fight SNV.
Holyfield is ATG but on this list Jou Louis is higher and maybe number 1.He was in his prime beast. His knockouts were brutal. And about Jesse Owens:famous for his 1936 Berlin Olympic Games heroics when he captured 4 gold medals but his career was cruelly cut short by American athletics officials on his return home who did not want a black man to profit from athletics related sponsors. He was never again allowed to compete so we can only speculate to what time he could have achieved. His time on Olimpic games 1936 was 10.3 on 100m without good shoes for sprint,on the bad athletic track and most important without steroids.Joe Louis was not slow he was very fast, explosive and had hardest punches on short distance which only Mike Tyson can compared.I didn't expected this for Holyfield, maybe from Ali,but not from Holyfield.
