I still think, and will always think, Evander can beat any version of Tyson. In my mind, from my perspective, thats how it lines up.

But I also concede that I'm biased. I found Mike an ******* and utterly unlikeable the only times we met, and Evander is a great man who took care of me for a while as a friend and partner in the sport.

One thing I've got to say is, he always respected Mike. Before they fought, and after, Evander held Mike high. I think, or atleast it seemed to me, that beating Mike was one of Evander's career goals. After he checked heavyweight champion off his to-do list, it was always in his sights. He trained like a man possessed to beat him and had a transcendent performance, and in my mind was on his way to another one when Mike went insane.

I think thats really what that interview proves: How much respect Holyfield has for his great heavyweight peer. The two get along famously now, too: All the mutual respect they had for each other has developed into a downright friendly relationship. I once asked Evander how he thought it would have gone had it not been for the ****, and Evander laughed and just said, "The greatest fight ever, man."

Looking at the match up and the men, it well could have surpassed even his war with Bowe.

Sometimes, i think Mike would have demolished him, he was that good and Holyfield was too small back in 90-91, it would have been a longer version of Spinks fight, then other times i look at their 96 outing and think...Holyfield might have just had his number. But judging by the interview, Holy knew Tyson wasnt what he once was in 96. So all that stuff about having his number is nonsense. Holyfield just fought a great fight for THAT Tyson.

Bowe-Holy was 2 prime heavys going at it. Tyson-Holy was 2 old men going at it. One had just been released from prison and the other was shot. You can see how much Evander respected Tyson, he knew Tyson was the man to beat. That shows how good Tyson really was, hes become severly underrated nowadays to the point that peopl think guys like Adamek would beat him ("if they stand up to him") which is absolute nonsense.

A Tyson-Holyfield trilogy would have done wonders for Tyson. Thats whats been lacking form his resume, a backwards forwards brawl with another heavyweight great. Maybe a series with Bowe too. Prison robbed him of these.

Would you say Tyson was higher up on Evanders priority list than say Bowe and Lewis?

Riddick Bowe, when asked about Mike Tyson: "When/if I see Mike Tyson on Street, I cross over to the other side!"

Make of that, what you want, but I do believe Bowe was Intimidated by Tyson.

He might have just meant he doesnt like talking to Tyson. Or he could have just been joking.

But why hasnt Tyson ever mentioned Bowe, EVER?

I do believe Tyson had Bowes number.
