Got to say, guys on this site were all quite harsh on the whole card. If you didn't take it DEAD ****ING SERIOUS, it was enjoyable. The Bondoravas/Fortune fight was moderately entertaining. The Barrett fight sucked, but it's always interesting when fights end in a draw. The Johnson/Long fight was hilarious. Me and my party were cracking jokes the whole time and it was fun to watch. Example of a joke: "Julius Long is the Interim Wendy's Double Cheeseburger Super Heavyweight Champion." As for the main event, we got to see who some would call a "legend" puss out in epic proportions. I thought the scoring of the whole card was dead on, perfect. It is seldom or never we get the chance to say that. For kicks, my scores and analysis of the fights: 77-76 Fortune ; Fortune threw like 15 punches in the first 6 seconds, scored round 7 even, Bondoravas could have ended it in the 4th, Bondoravas was just too inactive down the stretch RESULT: Fortune SD, 77-75 X2, 75-77 76-76 draw ; it was Davis who won his rounds big while Barrett won the closer rounds, def a boring affair RESULT: Draw, 77-75 for Davis, 76-76 X2 79-71 Johnson ; scored round 1 for Long because of affective pressure, Johnson dominated all the other rounds walking the giant down, fun fight especially in the 6th-ish round when Long stood against the ropes like a deer in headlights and got repeatedly drilled, the two knockdowns in round 8 were more from exhaustion and its clear he wouldn't have made it out of a 9 round fight RESULT: Johnson UD, 79-71 X3 29-29 at stoppage ; scored round 1 even as there were less than 5 total punches landed, thought Holyfield's jab was very good in round 2 which I gave to him, Williams dominated round 3 and staggered Holyfield big time a couple of times with big overhand rights, Holyfield breaths heavy when he tells the ref he can't see from a cut which would be a 5/10 on a scale of significance, yes he bitched out completely RESULT: No Contest My opinion is that there was no way that Holyfield would've survived past the 8th round. He saw a way out and took it. My opinion overall is that for $30 bucks, not too horrible. Not to mention all the music (which was mostly bad) and clothed strippers between every fight and every round. I had much more fun and enjoyed this card much more than I did the Pacquiao vs. Clottey card, which was $50/55 (I forget). Opinions from anyone else who actually watched the fight live? No, reading a RBR, a recap, or highlights doesn't count and I don't want your opinion.
I congratulate you as being one of the very few who purchased this mess. However,if I wish to watch a comedy act I shall do so on the comedy channel-not on a PPV BOXING event. Holyfield continues to show us just how low he can go.:dead
I'll it to you that we both had some laughs. Seriously, that whole thing was like if SNL did a sketch on the worst boxing card ever.
Were the strippers hot? Really I am trying my damnedest to see how you can stretch $30 out of that mess.
Good and bad: - About half of them were really hot. The blonde was nice! - Bad national anthem... Really bad. - Short ring walks, a plus! - Julius Long pulled an Andre the Giant and casually went over the top rope without extra effort. - Ray Charles tribute guy was not good... at all. -Clarence Clemmons, for a 70 year old, tore it up on the saxophone! - I always support $30 PPV's, like Judah/Mabuza. You don't have to buy it. If somebody wants to see it, it's not TOO TERRIBLY expensive. Everybody here loves boxing, so we should all agree to that. I was with a bunch of family, so the nostalgia of Holyfield did it. Plus there was a decent chance he'd get KTFO and it'd be the last time he'd suit up. At least that's what we were hoping for. And it would've happened.
