This should be clear - if he's not ranked in Top whatsoever, then WBC couldn't sanction the Vitali - Evander bout even as voluntary defence. To rank Evander hight enough to make him mandatory challenger would be crazy of course, but since Evander lost on thin margin against another title holder, WBC can pretend it improves Evanders ranking just enough to qualify him for a voluntary defence at least. This way he can cash in decently once more without putting himself in real danger - Vitali is of course civilized enough not to really hurt Evander, and Evander can't hurt Vitali in life, even if Vitali would stand like marble statue with hands down for 12 rounds, sooner would Evander hit the canvas out of exaustion then Vitali because of being hit ;-)

The WBA did a similar move to get Holy into their top 15 for the Valuev fight.
    Shady crap.

He's only four defeats from being number one contender for every belt!

Clearly it was Holyfield and not Williams, who spoiled Vitali's dream of fighting Mike Tyson. Now he must pay!

    4.-Manuel Quezada (US) CABOFE
    5.-Alexander Povetkin (Russia)
    6.-Kevin Johnson (US)
    7.-Odlanier Solis (Cuba) INTL
    8.-Davarryl Williamson (US)
    9.-Juan Carlos Gomez (Cuba)
    10.-Denis Boytsov (Russia)
    11.-James Toney (US)
    12 - Samuel Peter (Nigeria)

If Ray Austin really earned his Nr. 2 (in doing WHAT?) then Evander also earned his Nr. 15 at least... If not higher...

Since Austin got sparked with one hand by Wladimir Klitschko 2,5 years ago, what did he do? He struggled 8 rounds against one 13-9 Domonic Jankins (did anyone heard of this guy anyway) and struggled 10 rounds against 15-10 Julius Long and got a win against Andrew Golota because he got his arm badly injured, and THAT makes him Nr. 2 WBC contender??? My a...dmirations...

If Ray Austin deserves his Nr. 2, then Evander deserves to be Nr. 1, mark my words, at least he lasted full 12 rounds each against two beltholders, good or bad you can argue about but still world champions... IMHO it's still much greater achievement to stand your ground against a world champion even if you lose, then to win (even KO1, not UD) against Long - Boxrec Nr. 207 - and Jankins - Boxrec. Nr. 178 - and score a win against Golota with a busted arm, this even I could have done easily...

Nr. 4 Manuel Quezada - Who the f...unny me is he anyway?

Nr. 8 DaVaryl Williamson - What the f...ancy joke is this?

Nr. 14 Derric Rosy - Give me a f...rightening break will you?

Look at the difference between the BoxRec ratings and the WBC ratings - sure I know it's not the 1:1 comparison, but still you get a feeling if the rankings are insane or do have some logic:

Ray Austin - WBC Nr. 2, Boxrec Nr. 17
Manuel Quezada - WBC Nr. 4, Boxrec Nr. 29
DaVaryll Williamson - WBC Nr. 8, Boxrec Nr. 51
Derrick Rossy - WBC Nr. 14, Boxrec Nr. 44

Compared with these examples, Evander's ranking is almost okay - WBC Nr. 15, Boxrec Nr. 25.

Sure Evander doesn't deserve Nr. 15 but then half of the guys on the WBC Top 15 list don't deserve being there too, so you can't really ***** about Evander's ranking and keep silent about the rest of the losers who are still ranked higher then he is, can you?

As crap as the Holyfield-Valuev fight was, I still think Holyfield deserved to win it.
And he certainly deserves to be rated higher than some of those in the WBC's top 15.

Truth is, Chris Arreola didn't exactly do a heck of a lot to warrant his NUMBER ONE rating !

Wladimir Klitschko defended his titles against Hasim Rahman last year, but the excuse was made that Rahman was a "substitute" but there were at least 4-6 weeks notice if I remember rightly. Rahman's been crapper than Holyfield for some time now, but people seem to magnify the criticism any time Holyfield gets mentioned as a contender - because he's so damn old.

Judging from the Valuev fight, and noting the lack of good heavyweights at the moment, Holyfield is still a contender, and he's a durable fighter who's only been stopped twice in his entire career. Truth is, at 47, he's probably still a better bet than 90% of the young prospects coming up who seem to fall flat before they even get started.
