How's it feel to be a sheep? That bum of the month club propaganda device sure does work well on guys like you.
Your comments are ignorant at best. You should be tied up in a gay bar and beaten with a giant rubber *****.
If Michael Moorer can beat Holyfield I think Louis will be able to. Imagine Holyfield faced Louis instead of Bert Cooper - Louis wouldn't have let Holyfield of the hook when out on his feet so easily. The trouble with Holyfield is that between some great wins he was/is far too inconsistant, sadly some people hang onto to his excuses and give him far too much credit. If Evander was british he would be calld Danny Williams..
Are you crazy? This is a horrible match up for Holy... Id love to see him get stubborn and trade with Joe Louis...
**** that steroid taking, headbutting father of 10 illegitimate kids, he had to wrestle and headbutt a rusty Tyson to win, it's amazing how everyone talks about how dirty a fighter Ruiz is but doesn't mention either of his fights with Tyson, where he both held exessively and butted.
Yeah, but Bowe and Tyson werent as collected as Louis would be.. Louis would be able to maintain and let loose a horrible combination.. And the clinhcing and butting against Tyson, like dude above said..allows for bombs to be thrown. You make a good point though.:huh
It's easy for us to speculate Joe's weaknesses compared to the luxury we have today.. He fought during the depression- when people barely had food to eat. No work, the war, racism-all this played a role in diminishing Joe's abilities and mentality. He'd probably weigh around 225 in today's world, much stronger--and with better training- have a better defense and not get knocked down as much. He was very careless. He would be a much better fighter today.
That's a ridiculous bunch of statements right there. Joe was good from the outside as well as the inside, arguably a top 5 ATG heavyweight jab, excellent handspeed & accuracy to boot. Holyfield is a warrior no doubt but beyond his flashy combinations there isn't nearly the same power as a prime Brown Bomber. Not even close. Speed? Edge to Holyfield overall but Joe had very fast hands & his combinations were tight & accurate.
Just for the record, how would you see a Bowe vs. Lewis fight playing out assuming Bowe fought him innstead of dropping the belt?
Next to Tyson, Joe Louis had the best combination of speed + power in HWT history, he threw every punch in the book with textbook accuracy, he was only Kod once in his younger days & he lasted about 5 rds longer than he should have taking his beating like a man. Of course hecame back better & avenged that loss in 1 rd. You can point out the few times were Louis had an off night or got dropped or whatever but he always came back to win & he never got sliced to ribbons & KOd by any former MWT like Holy did vs James Toney either. Yes, Louis fought at around 200 lbs, Ali`s best fighting weight was 212, not exactly a huge difference & we dont hear how Ali was too small in mythical matches. Louis fought roughly in Ray Robinsons era (a tad before perhaps), does that mean SRR would hae lost to todays WWT & MWTs, no, bull****. If Joe Louis fought today, he would clean up with the same ease of which he did in the 30s & 40s because he was simply too good of a package for any of these embarassments to handle.... what the **** is wrong with you people, seriously, wake up.
If you want to **** off fans, the best thing you can do as a modern day fighter is badmouth old time fighters. Just ask Larry Holmes. Even if Holyfield could beat Louis (which I think is highly doubtful), he's better off to keep his mouth shut about expressing it.
He wasn't fast. At all. He wasn't fast with his hands, he wasn't fast with his feet, he wasn't elusive. He didn't throw flowing combinations. He wasn't big and strong. The main things he had going for him were power and accuracy and the biggest and most active propaganda campaign EVER for a fighter. What HW does Schmeling or Galento trouble today? Answer: None. Those attributes wouldn't be enough to get him past Evander Holyfield. Odds are Tommy Morrison or Ray Mercer would destroy him. You've seen the tapes. Quit being ignorant. What are you, 82 years old?
