The man beat Valuev in my eyes. Valuev held a title. He is an elite boxer.

If you want Evander to retire you better urge 90%of the boxers on the planet to retire.

    Change to record.

Someone needs to start some sort of fund for boxers like Holyfield, old and broke. The man has had a long career and more punishment is not necessary. Holyfield is a grown man though and should do what he pleases.

The problem is, he's getting to that stage where he's being to end up Bowe-style punch-drunk if he's not careful. He's taken a lot of punishment as it is and now he's still shipping punches in his late 40's. And if he fights Wlad or Haye and takes a sustained beating, I'd worry about his long-term health.

the fact that he can hang with 90% of the garbage out there says it all. hes 47.....he would have retired a long time ago if someone gave him a reason.... but the fact he got schooled by a guy like ibragimov who he would have put into the emergency room in his prime and lost to larry ****n donald and knocked out by toney.....it is time for him to go...unless he wnts to beat up the vinnie maddalones, lou savareeses, bothas, jeremy bates for chump change.... hes had 11 fights in 9 years.....i dont much see the point

Actually I agree. Who are we to say he has to stop fighting. I mean, he's already slurring his words so who'd notice a little bit more brain damage?

He's not even slurring his words, and he is very sharp in almost every interview i see him in.

Out of all sports, and i never really give boxers credit for being in condition.

Evander Holyfield has to be the most highly conditioned Athlete of all-time in my opinion.

He's a old school small heavyweight, fought the best Cruiserweights in the 80's, fought the best heavyweights of the 90's, and has survived in the SuperHeavyweight era..........he's 48 years old now...? and is still here, a shadow of his former self, but still a great technical boxer and man/athlete.

    What a man...

I think he should just retire and be done with boxing.

I obviously agree in an ideal world he should have retired by now. Nevertheless, this is the nature of boxing.

When they took his licence away, that was disgraceful.

The nature of boxing is that you get damaged.

Folk act like Holy is the only one, when he is still fighting at a high level.

Holyfield, keeps himself in shape and loves to box. I thought he should be a titlist as well, he did beat N. Valuev. Holyfield, is still in right body and mind and f he wants to should fight.

i agree...and he is in no danger of getting brain damage from any of this heavyweight garbage....except wlad....and all that means is wlad is capable of it and the others holyfield aint got to worry about nothing....but its his life and if he is still winning...:thumbsup
