This was scheduled for November 1991, Holyfield the Undisputed champion and Mike coming of some wins against Ruddock, even though it was a post prime Tyson he still was tough to beat. and Holyfield was pretty much in his prime. How would you have seen this one play out?
tough too say...........i think the 2 fights with ruddock took sumthing out of tyson.....they were supposed to fight nov of 91....tyson ruddock 2 was june 28 of 91.......thats only 4 months rite after ruddock.....were as holyfield had a pretty easy fight with foreman in april and had 6 months to recover.....so in this case ill say evander/ but if tyson fought evander rite after the 1st ruddock fight i think mike tyson woulda knocked out evander holyfield
Holyfield just had his number. By '91, Tyson was already much less disciplined a fighter than he was from '86 to '88 or so... Holyfield was at his physical best at that point, and a lot more energetic than in '96 and '97 when he actually did beat Tyson. Evander by wide UD.
Why not ask what 1+1 is the question is Just as easy. Tyson would have beaten Holyfield. Tyson despite being beaten by Douglas the best Heavyweight at the time. Standing and trading with Tyson which is what Holyfield would have done would have resulted in a Tyson knockout. The reason why Douglas had les to do wit circimstance ie. Not being Tyson's best night or Douglas being highly motovated, but with the why Douglas fought Tyson. Using his jab and a staright right combo, and holding when he had to do so. This dose not describe the way Holyfield fought. Holyfield beat a much lesser Tyson in 96. He would not have done the job in 91.
Holfyfield was some way off his peak when he first met Tyson, but Holyfield was one tough dude who could absorb the majority of Bowes punches and Foremans. Anyone that thinks Tsyon would have Koed Holyfield isn't thinking straight. Also factor in the fact that a 96 Tyson actually Koed Frank Bruno much more easily than he had in 89. (96 Koed Bruno in 3, 89 Koed Bruno in 5) And the World champ Bruno 96 version was a much more confident Bruno than the one of 89. Holyfield was ALWAYS the better skilled ring tactician and boxer than Tyson, even though Tyson had the better power to rely on. Tyson was soundly beaten to the punch back in 96, and I have no doubt that Holyfield would have surprised Tyson in 91, with Tyson facing an opponent who could not only take his punches, but fire back with interest. Holyfield beats Tyson in 91 of that I have little doubt.
Tyson always hated battles but Holyfield positively loved the battle....so Holyfield would always have the edge over Tyson.
