I don't think he's in much danger of being hurt against Botha, but I agree he should retire.

Somebody needs to take his boxing license away. A shame he didn't get the nod against Valuev because now he's going to continue fighting till he wins a version of the HW title back. And he's not going to beat either Klitschko or Haye, in fact he's going to take a boat-load of punishment against all and any of them.

It's his life. If hes willing to get punched a lot for money and there are people willing to pay him, I don't see the problem. True he shouldn't do it, but people do a lot of things to themselves that they shouldn't.
I shouldn't eat that big box of cookies waiting on the counter...actually, I really shouldn't.

    He shouldn't fight yes.

But I doubt Botha will hurt him badly.

Holyfield is still an extremely good Heavyweight. Most people thought Evander beat Valuev for the WBA Heavyweight Title, I will give you that. But now that is David Hayes belt.

I think if Botha was in the ring with any of us he could do some serious damage - So there have to be dangers for a man approaching 50

Saying that Evander clearly loves boxing maybe denying him what he truly loves would be like a death sentence for him.
Anyone in their 20s hang gliding - Mountain Climbing - Parachuting etc are putting their lives at risk - Who has the right to deny them? Who has the right to deny Evander?

Why should somebody take boxing license away, for a man who was very close winning a major world title?

Nobody should have right to stop him to make his livelihood.

I dont know about AT LEAST 10 years i would say 7

1999 i reckon there is a case for Evander winning the second Lewis fight

2001 came out on top against a MAYBE prime Ruiz

2002 Evander is starting to look act and talk like a smack rat on methodone day

Evander is able to understand the risks involved, so if he chooses to risk his health that's his business, the only situation in which it would be our business is if for some reason an individual mentally can't understand the risk of there actions. and when it comes to Evander's speech, he's always spoken like that. and he seem's mentally the same, he still has great reflexes for his age, so I don't see any signs of him being damaged. If it was up to me I would tell him to retire, but it's not, it's up to Evander.and look at the bright side, atleast he's boxing in the ring instead of announcing on the outside! The last thing we need is another Lennox Lewis.

Look at how ferociously he performed against Valuev and what great (for his age) ripped shape he was in. Seriously guys, if Holyfield comes to fight Botha in the same condition he fought Valuev, then if anything it's Botha who is in trouble. However that was more than a year before this fight is dated for, so he is likely to have declined somewhat further - still I strongly favour Holyfield to win this fight.

I believe that he really badly needs the money and he is hoping that after this victory he will get a shot at a Klit or Haye. Vitali said fighting Holyfield is not a possibility he'd rule out, but in reality it's in Holyfield's (at least in health terms) interests not to secure a fight with any of them.
