Holyfield's as complete a heavy as you'll ever see. Undersized was his only real problem against the super heavy's
I really can’t pick a winner here. Their mental makeups are so similar that whenever one raises the level of intensity the other would match and then take it up a notch further. I just want a ringside seat.
I agree and I say Holyfield was a harder puncher than Ali too. Not hard enough to pull a Foreman on Frazier, but he'd probably floor him a time or two early which would give him some 10-8 rounds which I think would put him ahead on the score cards come decision time.
Interesting point. I tend to agree. I remember Holyfield in his prime throwing a lot of punches without being able to get his man out of there. Sometimes he seemed to gas himself. It would be intriguing to see how Evander held up to the relentless body assault of Joe Frazier.
Interesting fight, hopefully it's scheduled for 15 rounds. I think the '71 FOTC Frazier smokes his way to a close decision. I don't think Holyfield's punch is enough to discourage Frazier from getting inside. I do think Holyfield does have a chance by tagging Joe on the way in and using his greater physical strength to tie up Joe. I know Evander has more tools but I think FOTC Frazier was at another level at that time and won't be denied. I do think Manila Joe would lose a close decision.
I'm in close agreement with this over any other post. I'm not so sure Holly's punch could get Joe out of there. Was he clearly a much stronger puncher than Quarry?
No, I think he was a mentor and Skokin' Bert's first trainer and was heart broken by the talent that was squandered, but not an actual relative.
