It depends how Holyfield fought. If he engaged in a boxing match which he could do,with his work rate he might outmaneuver Louis.
But if he chose to trade which he was inclined to do,I think Louis knocks him out.
I don't think anyone could go toe to toe with Joe Louis and not be made to pay.

I love Evander but I like Louis in this match up .. Physically they are the same size .. the issue is that once Evander gets hit he trades and he would not survive trading with Louis. Joe was truly a monster puncher with lightning hand speed and pin point accuracy .. Evander had an exceptional chin but no one survived getting pounded by Louis ..

Right you are! Holy's nature was to fight back when hurt. If this went the distance it could be a tough one to score as Holyfield would win more rounds when he wanted to box. It could be a split decision.

While Joe could punch a ton, Holy had one of the best chins in the history of the division.

Best vs best, Louis by KO in 8. Holyfield has a good chin, but it is there to be hit. You just can't do that with a puncher like Louis. His combinations are too crisp, too hard, too accurate. Holyfield could be hurt, and Joe was an excellent finisher. Prime Holyfield was always game, but, he had his hands full with almost everybody he fought that was good (Dokes, Stewart, Bowe, Holmes, Lewis, Moorer, even Bert Cooper! I am not mentioning Tyson, because Tyson was clearly not properly dedicated to the sport by the time they fought)

By no means am I saying it would be impossible for holyfield to score the upset. But, I just don't see it happening.
