Holyfield would get to Wilder at some point and stop him I dont think that Wilder would be able to hurt Holyfield.
Tho he still has quite a bit to prove against the the very best of today Wilder would most certainly be able to potentially "hurt" Holyfield. He leaves guys prone with single shots. Anyone he hits clean is going to be in trouble. Whether he's good enough might be another matter as Holyfield's no fool. I wouldn't be surprised if Holyfield crowded him and tried to stop him in close early.
The in-close idea is a really good one. Holy was no joke inside, and (again, school me if needed) I don't think Deontay's so hot there. Doesn't Wilder need a certain amount of punching room?
The chance that Holyfield stops a top tier opponent like Wilder is slim to none, and slim just left town....outhustle to a decision win, I do not agree but I could see the way of thinking. Holyfields rep as this bad "killer" is made out of his win/DQ against a washed up Tyson, thats it. He never stopped anybody on the top level ...........he needed two tries against glass chinned Moorer, could not keep him on the mat, Moorer kept getting up until the TKO.......the same Moorer who got waxed with ONE shot by fossil Foreman and One trick Pony Tua..... He won ONE fight out of FIVE against Bowe/Lewis.........and needed the Fan man and Bowes collapsing wife to get it done in his only win. I am no Lewis fan but he was a much, much better and more consistant fighter than Holyfiled ever will be.
Yes he would quite likely want to narrow down Wilder's room and punching space. Wilder's reach is huge, Holyfield would want to be in there where he could land his own. Sitting back against Wilder might not be recommended. Fury pulled it off nicely but had to put forward one of the great KD comebacks.
Deontay is an outside ambush style KO artist. If Holyfield could keep him on the inside. Using his head and strength then he could get Wilder out early. Wilders only defence against being on the inside is pulling his whole body back- that takes away a lot of energy. It wouldn’t be effective against someone with Holyfields inside fighting skill set.
Holyfield's win against Tyson was a good, solid world class win. True, it isn't the same as if he beat a 1988 Tyson or even a 1991 Tyson, but Tyson was one of the best heavyweight's in the world at the time Holyfield upset him and was on track to unify the division again and was on an undefeated winning streak. 1996 Mike Tyson was a solid, top tier heavyweight who could have defeated a lot of prime top 10 heavies from any era.
Negative, Tyson was not top class...he had top class marketing......he was not even a shadow of the not on all cylinders firing 91 version.....forget about the 80', he was a complete different fighter. After prison never had the tank to go a hard 12.Fact. backed up by that bum McHurrican......show me ANY fights where Tyson was backed up by a clown like that on his way up......he waxed a frozen Bruno, so what, he did it before when Bruno actually had some life in him.....missed wildly against mathis........again, show me ANY evidence where Tyson missed as badly repeatably on his way up or his championship run......easy, there aint none......Shelldon, please, nice guy but the event got to him with Tyson not even landing a punch. Post prison Tyson was a farce.........but it also showed how poor Golata/Saverse/Botha were because Tyson beat them on pure talent with almost zero prep
