Don't be delusional. I'd bet my house that Holyfield beats Golota. At the least, Holyfield is a durable man that can take a beating. While Golota was in the process of beating up on old man Holy, he'll all of sudden lose his mind and so something funky and Holy may even initiate that.

It takes determination and mental stability to give the sound beating you need to beat Holyfield. Golota, for all his physical talents, has no head. It's sad but true. What could have been is entirely and unfortunately - irrelevant.

This sounds bad. I´m rooting for Holyfield, but he really needs to be humble regarding this title fight. Iggy is nothing special, but he is a belt holder and beated Shannon Briggs to it. Not that I´d consider Briggs special either, but Holyfield hasn´t demonstrated anything supernatural since coming back. Ibragimov is this best opponent since Larry Donald. He should fear a bit. It´d make him better.

Wow, i didn't know that. That's really cool cuz I'm the same way. I haven't been able to really connect with any of today's fighters the way I have with Holyfield. When he would lose it would hurt. I don't know what the future holds for him but I would really like to see him win for nostalgic reasons. Funny thing is that I actually believe he can do it. You just can't count the guy out.

    so much for unification :patsch

after iggy's team did all that chest beating over unification they went silently into the night by picking an old warhorse to defend against.

to be fair i guess beating a name, even an ancient one will only help in selling a more lucrative unification match afterwards.

but aside from that i got the impression holyfield was hellbent on retiring as the unified champ. errr, well fighting golota isn't exactly unification.

either he isn't THAT delusional and knows his best chance is against iggy for a belt, then milk it against an equally old and faded fighter in golota. it makes logic sense but i was falling again for all that BS.

god damn, no matter who wins i really do hope they dont shrug off unification. wladimir isn't fighting until late feb/ early march. no excuses!!!!!

It's saying something when your nickname is "the Warrior." People throw that term around too loosely these days. I can't emphasize enough how important the first Qawi fight was for his career. Evander's 12th pro fight and he goes toe to toe with the Camden Buzzsaw for 15 grueling rounds and wins the title. Evander went from elementary school to college that day and he never looked back. There will never be another Evander Holyfield. He is the epitome of a fighter.

No disrespect to Poland but Golota didn't look that good against Big Daddy and neither did Bowe... After being kayoed by Lewis in one, given up against Tyson and stopped in 40 second by Brewsta, I don't believe Holy looks up for Golota and those Golota-Bowe fights... Holyfield should be confident against Ibragimov cause the russian has only 20 pro fights and despite his age and homecrowd support, he has only fought journeymen until this point, Iggy is a good southpaw fast boxer, puncher but I don't see him trade with Vander, and if he goes for it, Holy's type of performance against Vinnie should get his respect early...

The fight would go something like this....

1st round- Holyfield comes out with a headbutt... Golota counters with a low blow... In an amazing turn around, Holyfield lands a headbutt at the exact same time that Golota hits him with a low blow... the force of the low blow lifts Holyfield up and makes the headbutt even more effective... GOLOTA IS CUT!! 5 punch LOW BLOW COMBINATION BY GOLOTA!!! WTF? GOLOTA JUST CRAWLED OUT OF THE RING AND STORMED BACK TO THE DRESSING ROOM.

Holyfield win's by DQ. He goes back and sits on his stool, which his corner already had layed out ice packs on.

I am with Cruiser1 and MexicanJew, I feel Holyfield is such a great humble fighter from head to toe that there is genuine support for him by all the persons that wish him well... Not that he can achieve all those goals he set up for himself, but the problem with Boards and this is no exception is that Klitschko fans, Lewis fans and Tyson fans amongst others get around here to play the Devil's part - somehow resentful, jealous or just showing "false" elitism - try to diminish Evander and present guys like Iggy, Golota and others as far superior fighters... Not at all, neither Evander nor Sultan are showing disrespect for each other, they are just confident in their own abilities and one should be rewarded in five days time for that, there is absolutely nothing more to it, leave Wlad, Lennox and Mike or any other wanna-be GOAT out of this, please?!
