It is difficult to care about someone when they dont even care about themselves.

He threw away multiple million dollar pay days by eating himself out of shape.

It was fight that in hindsight he could have won, because AJ was scared shitless.

Nah, Im off the Ruiz train.

I held him in relatively high regard, relative to the division. I had him there with AJ, Wilder and Fury. And Im sure he will pick up some wins along the way even from here on out... hell, wouldnt even surprise me if he beats Wilder when they eventually fight, but... with the whole world telling him not to blow it, he chose partying over being heavyweight champion of the world. Speaks for itself.

If we have to be serious without trolling: Ruiz received the chance of his life. He accomplished his dream to become a world champion and he ****ing failed to manage his weight. You can't show up in the end of the fight and say: I didn't traaaaain you knooow, I came in over weeeeight you know...

He gave up before anyone else did and unfortunately his critics will now be harsh. His biggest fight and he blew it.

So it’s all up to Andy now - nobody is expecting some Adonis but he must shed some poundage and get back on the saddle in a big way.

He can easily come in 20 pounds lighter and refocused. Probably will look like a beast against his next opponent or two, likely dudes ranked around 20th or lower as opposed to Anthony Joshua the #1.

If he couldnt get motivated for defending all the belts against the previous champion.

I doubt he can motivated for anything, and that includes fights against the likes of Hunter, Parker, Breazeale, Hammer or Martin.

The mental side of being motivated is important and he has already shown he cannot get up for a fight that big.

Unfortunately, it's Andy Ruiz that has given up on himself. Like alot of Boxers have done, he's 'lost it', but he can still get it back if he self sacrificed.
It's just that for every Holyfield, there are 5 talents like Andy Ruiz. I very much doubt he'll ever be on form again.

I think Andy will be a solid top ten, or even top five opponent for a while now.

I do not know of any long term heavyweight champion that could not be bothered training and eating right for the most important, and career defining fight of their life, so early in their career to boot.

I won't give up on him because I was never invested in him in the first place. Winning a belt is one thing, but the true champions are defined by how they handle themselves after that. As far as I'm concerned Ruiz fell at the first hurdle and even if he manages to win another belt (not inconceivable if he goes after Wilder) he'll just fall off the wagon again, so I'm not sure why anyone would bother to put their hopes in this guy unless it's as some sort of disrupting influence in the division.

Personally I think he'll go down as this generation's Corrie Sanders, a really talented athletic guy who can't motivate himself to get into fighting shape because he can coast so easily on his natural abilities.

Think the problem isn,t just how he came in for the joshua rematch. Its more his whole career....history of being unmotivated. His weights fluctuated by about 40 lbs between fights. Its a guy thats hard to be taking seriously after the joshua rematch.

Fair enough the guys human he made a mess of it in the rematch....but its not been one slip up...its been a career of slip ups. Hes at the stage he either gets serious or its better for him to retire. The fights are gonna be bigger now. Joshua ran away most of the night...but other guys will hurt him if he comes in out of shape/overweight. Needs to find his motivation....or get out. Achieved his dream....no one can take away from him that tbf. Its where he wants to go now....invest money into his career with professional training camps etc or retire. Otherwise hes wasting his own time.

Joshua came into the second fight in better shape and with a better plan.

Ruiz came in out of shape and looking let he wasnt spending time in the gym; which he wasn't.

I don't know if Ruiz wins even if he is in the best boxing shape of his life (nobody can totally predict what is going to happen in a HW fight where both guys can punch) but I do know the odds go way up if he does.

I think we will never see Ruiz with his abs sculpted. He will never change his shape because this would mean to change his whole boxing style that it's okay imo. He already has cardio, stamina, chin, power and hand speed. So.. losing weight for improving what? His footwork ? It would be a nonsense because this could decrease the other skills. He moves like a bull and bulls dont run, they walk and charge with full head of steam when there has to charge.

the 2 Joshua fights paid for his mansion, cars, wall sized TV's and lifetime supply of food storages with enough left over to pay delivery boys to bring more food for decades so Ruiz currently has no motivation...

but maybe he'll gain another 150 pounds of Blubber and get bored with it like Fury did and make a comeback...
