Evander IMO really only started slowing down after moorer 2.
Sure his punch output dropped and footwork slowed down but then again he had alot of extra muscle.
In terms of reflexes, skills he was still all there(the things you usually look out for in an aging fighter)

Alot of his supposed decline was really just bad performances due to his "health issues" take out bowe 3 and moorer fights and you could actually say he got better because he exchanged and got hit less. Got hit alot less clean as well.

Bowe destroyed Holyfield to the body in the third fight. The health issue was an excuse. Bowe landed tons of hard shots to the body and gassed Holyfield out with them, probably broke his ribs.

Maybe he broke his ribs, but he was definitely compromised. He looked like a dead man. Look at his inability to throw punches after he knocked bowe down. Bowe was out of it. Any other top 20 HW would have finished him in that condition, he was out on his feet in the corner

I have watched those 3 fights quite a few times. Holyfield was hit to the body a lot this makes you out of breath, he might have broke his ribs also.

Bowe was a deadly puncher don’t forget. You can’t take to many body punches from Bowe before your going to be messed up. I don’t care who you are. Bowe had him hurt to the Body and once he knew that he just kept banging away at his body.

I think the Bowe trilogy largely finished him. He was ill and Bowe smashed him around the ring. I just don’t think he had much left after that.

He must've went back in time to use this excuse considering their was talk of him being sick after the Moorer bout and even before, I'm pretty sure.

I’ve always pegged his prime to be around 1989-1993. He still had a lot in the tank beyond those years but I don’t know if he was prime or not. I think Evander’s decline was slow and drawn out rather than the kind of abrupt decline that we see with a lot of greats

I’d place his prime to be 90-96 or so. I think Holyfields peak ended after the 2nd or 3rd Bowe fight because it was after this when he started showing signs of decline, but he was still largely as capable as his peak years. Idk, maybe 80% of the way there still? I think after the Tyson fight is when he really started to slow down and show signs of damage so I would say by then his prime was finished and is when he became a shell of his former self.

Evander was using a lot of energy early in the fight using a ton of movement. Does a fighter who knows they don’t have much energy fight that way?

Right after Bowe landed some good body shots Is when Evander lost some of his energy quite suddenly.

Bowe went to the body even more after this. Bowe claims he knew he hurt him to the body, It seems this way.

I don’t blame Evander for making excuses or think less of him. I make excuses when I make mistakes, so does everyone. Sometimes people don’t but if there’s money and career on the line everyone will make every excuse in the book and you should.

No way. I only make excuses because my publicist told me to, and because I'm out of my prime as a poster, and because Don King made me do it.

Holyfield still had all of his reflexes and skills in the tyson fights, sure he was less active than in his first title reign but he also had more muscle.
Tyson never hit him as flush as often with his lead right hands like john ruiz did. John attacked holy the same way tyson did with the lead right hand (followed by a clinch) but he had far more success.
Holy rolled off and then countered tysons lead right perfectly in fight one.

There was clearly something wrong with Holyfield in the 3rd fight, he actually had Hepatitis B vs Bowe in the 3rd fight you can read up about it.

Holyfield at one point had Bowe pretty much on the verge of being stopped, but didn't have the energy to finish him. Not because of Bowe's body punches, but because there was legitimate health problems with Holyfield at the time.

I googled about Holyfield having hepatitis b and only saw Henry Akiwanda fight being called off because he had Hepatitis b.

You say Holyfield must have had a problem because he did not have the energy to finish Bowe. And that is correct he had a problem Bowe destroyed him to the body.

I have been hit by body shots so I know they can take all your energy and make you out of breath and have had cracked ribs so I know.

Holyfield slowed right down after Bowe landed hard body punches. Bowe kept going to the body more after that because he knew he had him hurt to the body.

Or you can believe Holyfield went into the fight so sick he could only fight two rounds. And the sickness started to take effect right after Bowe hit him with some hard body shots. You don’t fight prime Riddick Bowe with the energy to only go two rounds.

Yes I tend to agree. The Bowe trilogy performance turned out to be Hepatitis & not heart related.
