    1) What I said about Bowe/Povetkin has zero to do with Wlad/ Mercer. I think your logic needs a refresher :nut

    2) I remember Bowe just about dying of a heart attack while Golota beat the **** out of him. I remember Bowe having to resort to fouling Coetzer to win because the fight was dragging on too long

    3) Povetkin was extremely strong late against Takam. He landed multiple combinations that cracked that nut :yep I suggest you watch the fight sometime:patsch And yeah, it's Takam, not Tackam, which sounds like some sort of glue.

    4) Damiani gave (prime) Mercer a whalloping up until Mercer's one hit wonder. That was the very definition of a hail mary punch. Credit to Mercer for getting that far and pulling out the win, but the fight stands for all to see. I respectfully suggest, as much as I like Damiani, that Wlad is a little better than him.

I agree that Holyfield struggled with big guys with a jab and power - which is why I think he goes down to Wlad, and hard. The problem with rating Holyfield is that he fought the very best, often outweighed, and often won.

However - he also has a LOT of losses on his record, and imho that ought to count for something. I mean, if I went to fight Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Ali, Wlad ... assuming that I survived ... would I then have a great resume with 5 losses to 5 greats? I don't think so.

Holy's prime ended probably after losing to Lewis. He was what 37. By that time he had fought a careers worth of top fighters. Wlad is still fighting, and imo has not fought that type of resume. Both have losses. Who has the worst losses? Wlad is past his prime and still winning while Holy was inconsistent winning and losing past his prime. With that said, Wlad wouldn't just walk through a prime Holy. That would've been a very tough fight for Wlad. Right now I'd rather wait until Wlad retires to judge the two. Holy is not greater than Lewis though. Wlad is gaining ground.

    :rofl:rofl:nut

Holyfield's prime ended with the brutal trilogy he had with Bowe.

What, you think he was the favorite going in the the Tyson fight?

P4P Holyfield is better, but H2H I rate the others slightly higher. He can hang with them and even beat them from time to time just like with Bowe but he's giving up a lot of weight, height, and reach.

Bowe had extremely low ring IQ. Had he been a bit smarter he would have easily made it 3:0 against Holyfield.

Holyfield didn't win one out of three against Bowe because he was so good, but because Bowe's stupidity allowed for it.

PLEASE, I need an explanation on this. I'm only asking you to explain one round. How in the world did you give round 7 to Holyfield when he got outlanded 33-8, rocked 3 times and Lewis LANDED 12 more punches than Holy THREW. Have you ever actually seen this fight or are you just making things up?

I know this was like 5 pages ago, but has anyone actually seen who Foreman has in his top 10? Tyson and Holyfield feature towards the later end, no Lewis.

I haven't seen his list in ages, but if I recall right he wrote it in about 2000 or 2001 cause I vaguely recall remembering the same thing.

Holyfield will always be better on a p4p basis, but not as a heavyweight. Lewis already ranks higher than him, and it wouldn't surprise me to see Wlad pass him as well. But steroid use or not, he was a true warrior I have no problem with anyone putting him in their top 10 ATG list. I go back and forth with these lists, but I think he's somewhere between 8-12

Bowe had skills, but he chose to be a mid-close range fighter . He would of been much more effective if he fought long range. Paul Williams made the same mistake

Exactly. Bowe had skills but he gave away all his natural advantages for no apparent reason. Bowe allowed Holyfield to get into the fights, when he could have just shut Holyfield down and made these fights completely one-sided affairs.
