Not retired yet...but old and well shot. Now if time is ticking by like it is...why is he so inactive? Why not just retire?? I really dont get it...all I can think is he's waiting around for a gift opportunity to fight for a strap...but its not going to happen is it? The only other way is to keep active and beat some contenders. Whats he thinking?

****ed if i know what he's thinking, pointless bouts with sherman williams & Brian Neilsen, i think hes waiting for a shot at Vitali, which will be a sad thing to see, Holy losing to a guy he would have relished in his prime.. I think evanders financial situation must be ****ed & he needs to keep making $$, I just try to enjoy the Real Deal for what he gave us in the past, not what hes doing in 2011 :D

    Umm, that's debatable.

Inactivity is what being a modern boxer is all about, especially a very shot boxer. I'm sure Holy is angling for a name fight, something with some money, someone he can actually get motivated for. He came close against Valuev and is probably hoping for another such opportunity.

There are lots of seniors in the heavyweight division. If Holy is going to stick around, he should be fighting guys like Rahmen, Tony, etc.

Maybe Wlad should fight him just to have an ATG on his resume, so that for the next time if someone asks "name one ATG Wlad has fought" people would have an answer? lol

In Holy's case it's clear why he's still fighting... MONEY!
He shouldn't, but he has to. He has to get rid of his house.

Why don't the K-brothers use ol' man Holy as a tune up for their next fights, and beat this man senile so he can retire, finally...

Watching Vitali vs. Briggs was rough, the beating he laid on Shannon. There's no way Holyfield would stand up to that punishment. The Klitschko's have already said they won't fight him, with good reason. We don't need to see anyone killed.

I have often thought of this myself, since most great heavies only beat badly deteriorated versions of older champs anyway. but its just too cruel to Holy.

Bowe still makes noise about fighting again. Maybe the Klits should dig him up.

This is often suggested, even when Holyfield was still somewhat decent.
Only the brothers said they would never even consider it, because of the damage it would do on Holy's health. Now even a guy like 'Tank' Williams seems to be too much for current Holy, imagine what would happen if he shared the ring with Vitali

Holyfield isn't in the top 15 of any alphabet org, so the Klitschkos can't make a voluntary defense against him.

Holyfield has his WBF bauble to defend so i guess he can eke out a few more paydays if he picks the right level of opposition (the WBF don't seem too discerning in that regard!) but he'll never get another mega-bucks fight or challenge for a major belt again.

There's decent money for the 'oldies' to make if they match themselves right. The winner of the upcoming fight between Oliver McCall and Bert Cooper will hold the IBU title, Kali Meehan just won the other WBF trinket and James Toney has the IBA strap. There's a unification series right there...

Had Wlad defended vs Holy rather than Sanders, today would be a different day.

I think one of the bros should have given him his shot like 8 years ago when he was barking loud. A win over a 39 yo Holy aint bad, but the Bros have ALWAYS had FAR too much love for Evander, and they have never wanted to hurt him.

I don't mind seeing Holy fight these days. Just so long as he sticks to the fellow oldtimers or the cans, I'll watch and be happy watching him make some dough.

Holy should fight Tyson Fury and take the British title. He could make some good $$$ there.
