    Agreed!

Holyfield said that he thought his teeth got knocked out after a Foreman punch. I don't know it this was the punch that Holyfield was referring to, but Foreman landed a glancing straight right in the 11th after he was instructed by his corner to straighten out his right. Holyfield immediately held.

Larry Merchant commented "that was Foreman's home run shot and it just missed"

I thought Holyfield came pretty close to blowing it against Foreman. He was clearly the better boxer, but he went hell for leather all the way through and he looked pretty worn down in the last few rounds while Foreman was still coming on strong and landing punches. It would have got real interesting if that fight had been a fifteen rounder.

Holyfield was doing most of the work throughout the fight. Foreman was chugging forward, but Evander was the one throwing and landing. He should have been tired at the end; he beat on a 257-pound heavy bag for 12 rounds! In the 12th round, Foreman was stumbling on tired legs. I mean, all credit to George for taking Holyfield's best shots and lasting the distance, but I can't see what Holyfield could have done much differently to win. He boxed and slugged with Foreman, and he almost always came out on top.

Foreman was so slow that Evander could afford to fight him like he did. Against a quicker puncher like Tyson, Evander would have to fight differently. Foreman didn't have the hand speed to win exchanges with Holyfield. And yeah, Foreman tagged Holyfield a few times, but he was never in any danger of seriously hurting Evander. Holyfield would win 2:30 of a round, then George would have 15 or 20 good seconds, and all of a sudden George would win a round? I was a biased observer in favor of George at the time. I was rooting for him. But Evander kicked his butt big time!

He had Hepatitis in the third Bowe fight. I have no idea how he lasted as long as he did.

Evander is more of a fighter then any fighter I've ever met.

He took shots from Foreman and SMILED. I took shots from Foreman and turned away.

He stood toe to toe with Bowe and never wilted. I, myself, couldn't replicate that feat.

I'm about 10% larger as an overall human being and I'm half the man, half the fighter, and have half the heart and the balls. I'll always be a huge Holyfield fan for that reason; He humbles me.

And he'd do all the above, and go out dancing. He'd dance with all the ladies, and do so far more capably than any of us could. Probably why he has 11 children, or something like that.

Magna, I love hearing your posts recounting your sparring experiences. :good

I'm a huge Holy fan too, he truly was the Real Deal.

    Excuse the pun.

Yet his detractors (in another topic) think a young Foreman would merely blast him out, as he did to men who simply couldn't handle high-end power. :-(

Holy also took some ridiculous nukes from Tyson, which would've flattened 99% of Heavyweights.

IMO, your post confirms to me that he was/still is (?) on PED's.......big time, I bet if he would be more articulate he could give seminars on it.

It is ok if you and the entire forum disagrees with me.........

BTW, he has a small part in the remake of "Arthur" and lets just say he ain't aging very well, he looks easily ten years older.

If he is, he doesn't consider it cheating.

Evander Holyfield is quite possibly the most honorable sportsman I've ever worked with. He says he didn't use, and I believe him; Being around him for several years and watching him work everyday, I've never seen another fighter in any weight class train harder, train smarter, or just be an all around better human being.

He didn't figure the condom thing out, and that's his cross to bear, but the man I know is simply not a cheater.

People will pull out the headbutting accusations, but welcome to prizefighting. Your favorite fighter, whoever he may be, is also dirty as hell. They all were, you had to be, and still, to some degree, have to have your tricks.
