One of the best he's ever thrown.

    Thanks for the Youtube link.

That was a great left hook indeed.

Can't say i'm impressed by the entire performance, though.

Well, it was surely impressive for a 44 year old, but he didn't convince me he should be favored against any of the beltholders. Savarese is over 40 himself as well and was never more than a fringe contender anyway.
Holyfield is still great technically and still has his third glove, but his workrate is simply too low.

It would be a good time to retire now that he has a small winning streak. Retiring after another terrible beating like he got from even the light hitting Toney would be bad. Ibragimov and Chagaev are no Toney's, they'll give Holyfield a brutal TKO loss. Not to mention Wlad.

You make good points, but ....
We all know he's NOT going to retire now.
Holyfield's point of view is clear, and doesn't match up with yours in the slightest.

If he turned round today and suddenly announced his retirement, we'd all think he really has suffered a severe head injury !

BTW, I think Holyfield might give one or two of the big names/beltholders a tougher time than most are expecting. Ibragimov didn't impress me at all in his last fight, and Chagaev is still unproven to a large extent. (Holyfield could probably/possibly beat Ruiz and Valuev).

I thought Holyfield performed well enough the other day, but looked a bit slow getting into his stride.
I'd make only two or three fighters a clear favourite over him - Wlad, Peter, maybe Povetkin. I'd make Chagaev a slight favourite.
I think Holyfield's near enough 50-50 with everyone else though - Ruiz, Rahman, Maskeav, Valuev, Brewster, Ibragimov, Brock.

I believe the chronic shoulder injury was a factor in Holyfield's horrible performances against Toney and Donald.
I think Evander is about the same at 44 as he was at 38 or 39, and can continue on that level for a few more years, given his dedication to conditioning.
