Jose Luis Gonzalez lost an entertaining and close fight to Carson Jones. If not for the bad cut to the forehead of Jose in the last round. This fight could have gone the other way. Not bad considering that Jose was a last minute opponent

When I saw he was from Kansas, I was WONDERING if he might be one of your homeboys Flatty!

I thought he did very well in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but let the other guy back into the fight after that. Clearly, if he was able to finish strong and win the last round, he would've won on the judges cards.

Either way, he was in a good, competitive fight that was, frankly, far more entertaining than Green's one-sided snorefest.:yep

Jose is a tough kid. He was not even sure if he would get air-time tonight but I think when he did he made the best of it. Neither fighter was warmed up coming into the ring tonight. That head-butt and cut really bothered him. First time I can remember him ever being cut. He is a product of the Bad Boyz Gym and the nephew of it's owner Robert Gonzalez. Victor Ortiz, now from Oxnard CA, is also a product of that gym.

Interesting. Thanks for the background, Flatty. It's interesting to hear a local perspective on one of these relatively unknown fighters. It's too bad that he got that cut as it seemed like a winable fight for him. One thing I would say is that he could have been more active. The guy he was in with was faster than he was, but not as powerful. If he had been a bit more aggressive, the outcome probably wouldn't have been in doubt when the butt happened.
