is a regional thing.. most russians and germans love him because he's from there just like the fans of most fighters....

im not a fan but you have to give them respect they beat almost everybody they face... no matter how weak you think the division is..

i've never been a fan of the HW division because most HW fighters are just big but have no technique whatsoever other than holyfield who came up from light heavys

Well, you have to like him as a person firstly. The guy has real charisma and seems like a genuinely nice and funny guy. That's one reason to be a fan.

Continuing on from that point, is that he is a great role model. Educated, articulate, hard working, respectable in all senses of the word. If I had to chose a boxer that I would like my son to grow up to be like, Wlad would be right at the top of the list. (Until I find out that he has his own Fritzl basement...)

Boxing needs this respectability. Boxing suffers from scandal after scandal, it seems that every couple of weeks we hear the term "another black eye for boxing". I sometimes meet people, and when they hear I am a boxing fan they go on about what a disgusting sport it is - and I use the Klits as an example of where boxing isn't about mindless brutality. If boxing needs the occasional villain to sell fights, then it also needs the good guys. So they get my support for that.

Then you have to respect his achievements. He has become a dominant, unified champion. He has had a long reign where he has barely lost a round. He towers over the division to the point where other fighters are too scared to try and even win the belt. Given how hard he has had to work to get there, and the setbacks he has had to overcome, then it is impossible not to respect that.

Then, lastly, is his actual fighting. While you can't deny that he is a good guy, or a good role model, or a dominant champ, whether or not you enjoy his fights will be subjective. I know that boxing purists can watch a technically sound match and be very satisfied - while the average redneck will get bored if there isn't a KO by round 3. I can enjoy both, but I would eventually get bored of watching a fighter who only ever won by decisions. With Wlad, you get to see the technical mastery with the bonus that there is a high chance of a knockout.
I don't find his style frustrating. If he was behind on the scorecards, and needed a knockout and didn't go for it - then that would be frustrating. But watching him break down his opponents and impose his will on them, that's entertaining.

I enjoy watching Wlad fight because i know that Manny Steward come the 12th round is going to be screaming at Wlad to KO a man half his size. That always gets me in a fit of laughter!

Even his shitty fights are fun to watch live, as you just never know if his chin will be tested.. so you always have that.

He typically ends things in great fashion, and you can't say all his fights have been boring.. because most have been good.

I didn't like the Klitschkos at first, because, man, they so boring.

But then I understood what the heck they were doing in the ring. Especially with the Haye fight which was confirmed by Booth himself in a recent interview.

And even more than that, everyone just kept badmouthing them when they were dominant as heck. I mean, dude, Wlad rose from 3 knockdowns to start his road to championship dominance and he still don't get no respect.

I give Holmes and Marciano respect even if they fought in relatively weak heavyweight eras. If I give those guys that respect, I HAVE to give Klits the respect so I won't be no hypocrite.

Also, Wlad is a funny dude. I still don't like the way he fights, but it works. Got no right to slag him for it.

I'm a fan because of his technical skills and craftsmanship. It's fabulous to see an elite athlete come into competition every time in superb shape, with a gameplan for each fight that he adheres to, despite what opponents bring tot he table. He's clearly got respect for his chosen profession as there's never an occasion when he ( or his brother) turn up out of shape, or under prepared. I like the level of respect extended to opponents both outside the ring and in preparation.

And yeah, while I adore ring warriors like Morales or Holyfield I've always got time for someone who can box superbly and totally outskill there opponents, whether it be Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Mayweather or Wlad.

It helps that Wlad is such a likeable guy who gives a real impression of a warm personality with a great dry sense of humour and is such a phenomenal ambassador for the sport too.

im a fan of technical boxing more than 2 sluggers..he is technical, great footwork,gd speed for a man his size.dosnt duck anyone.plus as a man hes a credit to the sport..plus the fact of the setbacks hes had in his carrer and where he is now despite those set backs(how many so called atgs have wee seen crumble due to a defeat??)...its pretty hard not to be a fan of the guy..it actually baffles me why he has so many haters and then people like you try and tell me that its because he is a safty 1st fighter??utter bullcrap..so was lewis..and he is an atg..most dont like him because hes an eastern block fighter..some dont like the fact that the guy is abit goofy but can fight like he does (these guys are used to the tysons of this world who are so called hard men)..its a fact if the guy was a yank or a brit he woulnd NOT get this much abuse...i ask youhow can you not be a fan??ur going to answer its because hes safty 1st (basiclly because he dosnt go in head 1st) which is why he is so dominant he actually thinks which again makes him more impressive

I'm just going to quote this because this is me as well, except for the joining ESB part.

At every other division you will also find fights were the opponent completely shuts down and goes into a shell, that's the point you know the fight is going 12 and can turn off your TV no matter who is fighting.

Klitschko is a great come-back story, go ahead, name me some other fighters who have suffered 2-3 loses in their Championship prime and returned to dominate a division.
