No way. I can't wait for Khan to finally come up against someone with half a chance of exposing his glass jaw and giving everyone a reality check.

I'm pissed off with Joe Public talking about Khan as if he's the second coming of Muhammad Ali when the fact is that he is the most overhyped UK fighter in living memory.

Nothing against him personally (although he does come across as an arrogant and disrespectful *****), but extremely clever match making by Frank Warren has got him to where he is and I would hate someone like this to win a world title.

It's funny, but he's started to grow on me.

I wanted him to go against a puncher and fail, especially after Limond put him away and the ref helped him back into the fight. There was just too much hype surrounding him.

Then, there was the arrogance and driving incidents and it looked like he was going off the rails.

But in the last couple of weeks, I've been wanting him to do well more and more. Some of the arrogance I chalk as confidence, these days, and ambition to be the best he can be.

I don't like that he is talking down to his potential opponents and talking about not wanting to give them paydays etc...

...but I want him to beat someone like Casamayor or Campbell and win that title. If he doesn't show more respect then and if he doesn't become more affable, of course, I will regret having supported him...but in the meantime...I want him to do well...:?

I'd only consider him a proper champion if he won one of the WBA, WBC or IBF titles. Given that he's a FW fighter I think it's more likely he'll win the WBO or WBu and we'll be TOLD that he's a real world champion.

Why? Is Casamayor not a real champ?

But if he had beaten the same people to win the IBF belt, he would be a legitimate beltholder?

Of course he would but those same people wouldhave had to beat different people to hold the IBF title in the first place.

casamayor is the linear / ring champ. if khan beat casamayor, i'd be very impressed and would consider him as a genuine world champion.

casamayor isn't the wbo champ, nate campbell is. and imo a victory over an over-the-hill but big name fighter like casamayor would be the most impressive victory khan could achieve at lw unless he beat juan diaz.

You're both wrong anyway. Casa is interim WBO "champ", Campbell is WBO champ but also holds two of the three proper belts.

I don't think FW would take it- too risky but who knows it IS a fight Khan can win.

I meant WBO interim or whatever.

Casamayor is a great example of why everyone's favourite title does more harm and good. So The Ring have decided that the way to sort out the alphabet problem is to add ANOTHER title. Some people consider the WBO a legit title so the addition of the Ring title would make 5. That makes me feel a bit uneasy but what's worse is that the Ring have no authority over their champions' choice of opponents.

Casamayor clearly lost against Santa Cruz. If Casa held one of the big three, or even the WBO, he'd be ordered to give Cruz a rematch. The Ring cannot do anything about it if Casamayor doesn't want the rematch.

Ricky Hatton is regarded by many to be "the man" at 140 because he holds the linear and ring titles. He clearly has no intention of fighting Witter who is obviously the number one guy in the division. So Witter cannot possibly be the champion at 140 if Hatton won't fight him.

Does it not make sense that if a fighter is good enough he will eventually win the title? It shouldn't be up to the champion whether a contender has a chance to win the title. Is it a coincidence that Hatton holds the three titles that let you fighter whomever you like? IBO, Ring and "linear"?
I'm only bringing Hatton into this because he's another example of why the Ring belt should not be used to replace the big three.

personally, regardless of what happened in his last fight, i think diaz is the best lightweight out there. belt or no belt.
