You're forgetting the punishment from the first martinez fight. He won the fight but took too many clean shots from a much bigger opponent. And has looked like crap since. I really hope the time off helped him get back to pre-sergio form but I have some doubts.

This is a very interesting fight. Despite Williams having so much more pro experience from a pure technical position Lara is more advance from that long Cuban background. Williams still makes many mistakes but he is so tough, athletic and well conditioned he overcomes it.

I actually think Lara has a chance to pull the upset. Either way the fans win for this class fight.

Much respect to Paul Williams heart of a wolverine and aint no shame in his game. I just wish he had a trainer that could improve his standup. Im not hating on his present trainer but I think he has taken him as far as he can and I hate to see so much potential unfufilled.

he has a lot left in the tank , but after that last knockout, everyone who fights him will be aiming at his chin.

    Well said. :thumbsup

Boxing's better with the Punisher back in action. The media overrated him when places started ranking him #3, and I could see why people say he got a favor in the first Sergio fight. But that stuff is outside what Williams personally can control. What he can control is fighting with heart, how he handles it when things don't go his way, and putting on the best show he can for the fans. He aces all 3 of those for me. Fighters don't come much more fan-friendly than Williams does, and I respect that.

to all hype prospects who build a record of 100-0 and get belts without fighting a live body...this is the way to prove where u really belong: fighting the best out there. Go Lara!

i read an interview of him talking about his legacy and it sounded like someone who had retired and that's a bad thing if your still fighting. i hope he can come back but i feel he needs a new trainer. i herd his trainer saying that they mainly concentrate on fitness because Paul has been fighting for so long he knows how to box. or something along those lines.
